Vehicle Detail

History of 51 Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe: The newest thing about the 1951 model was its advertising slogan. “See the USA in your Chevrolet” was seen in print, heard on television and in song from Dinah Shore. Deluxe models had a stainless steel molding starting above the fender and extending onto the doors. A deluxe name plate was mounted on each front fender. The stainless trim on the side of the 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe models was moved lower on the body to make the entire car look lower. On the Deluxe models there was a strip of chrome running forward from the taillight along the top of the fender. Mechanically little changed other than Bendix brakes replaced the Huck style brakes that had been used since the 1930s. Larger brake linings were advertised as "requiring 25% less pedal pressure." The two-speed PowerGlide transmission was offered as an option on all models. The options list grew longer and included the Vacuumatic Ashtray and turn signals. The 216.5 six cylinder (92hp) was mated to the three-speed manual tranny, while the larger 235 six (105hp) was reserved for the Powerglide. Note: Odometer works-engine is a 1955. 1951 was the last year of production for the Fleetline Deluxe. A total of only 57.693 were produced. My Car: Interior has been restored to original grey color. Engine wiring has been updated. Seat belts installed in rear (for my grandkids). 12 volt system but radio and wipers are 6 volt. Wipers work for short time but not long or will burn up motor. Radio not working. Horn loud. Heater works. Battery good. Car starts up first time everytime (choke works). Turn signals work. Brakes work but will eventually need new cylinders ($26 on Ebay), original owners manual included, Fulton stoplight viewer in box included, automatic trans. I have taken many pictures of the outside, inside and under the car to give you a true vision of the car. Yes the original black paint has "Patina". I love that you can't see it until your 2ft away. You do what you want. Check out those original whitewalls (plenty of tread left). These cars are hard to find in this condition. "Rat Rod" potentia with fastback. It won 3rd place for "stock" cars in 2010 at Sturgis' Falls Car show. This year it was a highlight of the American Graffiti parade in Modesto. This car is so much fun to drive and people stop and look and wave as you drive by. Please note the car is 62 years old and like me, needs to be kept up. Car is being sold as-is. No warranty of any kind. Subject to immediate cancellation if sold locally.
