1965 Ford Mustang I bought the car in 2009. I was told it had been in sitting carport near Hood River, OR, for the previous 26 years. I started working on restoration with the intention of making the car into a solid daily driver. I have since worked on making the car mechanically sound and was preparing to start body and interior work. But my situation has changed and it's time to let the car go. The car runs well and is mechanically sound. It's not a daily driver yet, but could easily become one. The car has its original door data plate, information below. Data Plate: Body – 65A, 2-Door Hardtop, Standard Interior Color – P, Prairie Bronze Metallic Trim – 26, Black Crinkle Vinyl, Standard Interior Date – 10R, April 10, 1965 D.S.O – 72, San Jose, CA Axle – 3, 3.20:1 Conventional Trans – 3-speed Manual VIN – 5R07T208978 The previous owner repainted the car from the original prairie bronze to its current dark red. The Good: Petronix electronic ignition installed 2010 (I still have the original cap and rotor, which I will include with the car). New belt, radiator hoses, heater hoses, spark plugs, wires, water pump, alternator in 2009 Transmission rebuilt in 2009 Shifter rebuilt in 2009 Clutch, throwout bearing, and clutch fork replaced 2009 Tires new in 2009, approximately 1,000 miles on them Wheel bearings in 2009 U-joints in 2009 Brake lines and brakes replaced 2009 Shocks replaced 2009 Stainless steel gas tank installed 2009 Speedometer replaced in 2009 (I do not know the actual mileage on the car)Autolite 1100 carburetor rebuilt 2011 Note in the pictures that the air cleaner says “250 cubic inch,” this is because the carburetor and air cleaner that were on the car when I bought it were not correct for the motor, so I bought a used Autolite and the only air cleaner I could find came from a 250-cubic-inch motor. Muffler replaced 2011 I have new exhaust pipes and a manifold for the car. I was in the process of replacing the exhaust system starting from the muffler because the muffler was completely rusted through. Parts INCLUDED with the car: New exhaust pipes and exhaust manifold Glovebox Original cap and rotor – replaced with Petronix electronic ignition Replacement door with chrome window trim and glass (original from another car, not a reproduction) The engine is strong, with good compression in all cylinders. The Bad: The car needs significant body work, but there is no Bondo in the car! You can do the body work and fix it right the first time! I have a replacement door for the damaged passenger side door (see photos), and I will include it in the sale. It's an original door from another car, not a reproduction. The floor pans need to be replaced. The rear seat footwells are in the worst shape. I put plywood under the carpet to ensure that no one could accidentally put a foot through. The rear quarter panels and trunk floor need to be replaced. The interior, except for the carpet, needs to be restored/replaced. The headliner is in good condition and was installed by the previous owner.The car needs to be repainted. The Other Stuff: I have a clear title for the car. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping or local pickup. $200 nonrefundable deposit is due within 24 hours of winning the auction. If the deposit is not paid with 24 hours, seller retains the right to relist the vehicle for sale. Balance is due within 7 days. Car will not be released until the balance is paid in full.
