Vehicle Detail

1962 Jaguar MKII Matching Numbers - Clear Washington Title - Classic Car Registration I purchased this car in Oct. of 2001 with the full intent of doing a total restoration of the car. In June of 2012 I was able to drive the car for the first time. At 50 mph, it tracked down the road just fine, and I was able to let go of the steering wheel without the car moving off-track. Unfortunately, I have become disabled, and cannot physically finish the car. This car is an excellent candidate for a total restoration! Engine: 3.8 Litre Dual Overhead Cam 6 Cylinder. In June of 2012, I double-checked the engine compression and it read 150 lbs. per cylinder.... DEAD ON! There is an oil leak in the pan that needs to be addressed. I could not find any evidence of any oil leak from the rear main seal. The generator light just came on last month. Exhaust: Brand-New SNG Barrett Stainless-Steel Exhaust (Top-of-the-line). Cost over $1500 new. Transmission: Borg-Warner DG250 Automatic. It should come as no surprise to anyone that it leaks. I would recommend that a more modern automatic (unless you like the feel of the old clunky-shifting Borg-Warner). Brakes: 4-Wheel Disk Brakes. I dismantled, cleaned and rebuilt the front brake cylinders a few years ago. After flushing the brake lines I discovered that the rear brakes operated just fine, so I left them alone. I am unsure as to how the power brake booster is working, but I would recommend rebuilding it. Fuel System: The car was put away with a full tank of gas for 20 years. I acquired a good solid used tank, had it flushed professionally, and installed, it. I flushed the fuel lines the best that I could, installed a new fuel pump and gas tank sending unit. Body: The body is extremely solid for a MKII. There is an area behind the right rear wheel that needs attention. The spot on the left pillar between the doors was caused by lead failure, but still needs attention. The floors are extremely solid, with just minor pitting. I acquired a set of Martin Roblee inner and outer sill panels for both sides of the car, but are not needed. I will include them with the sale of the car. Exterior Trim: Complete with extra spares, with the exception of the trunk badges and license plate surround. Interior Trim: Complete with extra spares, but needing total restoration. I applied about 7 coats of lacquer to the dash and re-installed it (partly to figure out where I might scratch them BEFORE applying the remaining 60 coats of lacquer). I removed the headliner, carpets and insulation in preparation of a total restoration. Instruments: Complete and all appear to be working properly. Heater: I removed the heater box to restore it. The heater fan works properly. Tires & Wheels: The car has been sitting on the tires for over 30 years, and they have flat spots in them. The wheels are original to the car, and have surface rust. I'm offering this car at a starting bid of $5500 (half of what I have invested in it) with NO RESERVE! Payment Terms: Cash, Cashier's Check or Acceptable Money OrderDue Within 4 Days of End of Auction. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! If you would like to see the car in person, this weekend would be great! I'm having an estate sale, and I'm located about 2 miles west of Sea-Tac Airport in Seattle. IF YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT RESTORING A MKII THE RIGHT WAY, THIS CAR IS AN EXCELLENT CANDIDATE.
