Vehicle Detail

Due to an unexpected loss of storage space, I am offering up for auction at a "very low" reserve my 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider 1600 Normale Spider "garage find" restoration project. I received this email from Alfa Romeo Archives: with reference to your request we are informing you as follows. According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 378294 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider (101.23), disk brakes, manufactured on the 28th October 1963 and sold on the 13th April 1964 to Alfa Romeo IGermany, Frankfurt. The body colour is blue, with grey interiors. The Giulia's & Giulietta's are becoming some of the most desirable production Alfa's available today. They are appreciating nicely and premium examples are commanding very high prices and becoming excellent investments while the market continues to appreciate. With that said, this original unrestored Giulia Spider represents a wonderful opportunity for the Alfisti that always wanted a Giulia or Giulietta Spider, but could not afford their appreciating values. Vin # AR 378294. 1600 engine number is: AR*00112*14700. 5 Speed Transmission. Manufactured in October 1963. Titled as a 1964 The Alfa has been garage stored for many years and will require a full restoration. The vin # designates this as a 101.23 series 1600 Normale Spider. The Alfa is mostly complete and is in non-running condition. "Low Reserve Auction". As noted by Alfa Romeo archives, this Alfa was originally a German delivery example with factory disc brakes. As you can see, the front fenders were fitted with "European Marker Lights" The color is a medium blue, and Alfa Romeo archives suggested that the original paint code as AR 314. I will be including a picture of the glove compartment door that shows this very rare original color. An old Virginia registration shows that the Alfa was last on the road in 1974. It comes with a clear Michigan title. As you can see, the Giulia was taken apart and blasted in preparation for a full restoration which never got off the ground. I had planned on undertaking the restoration as my next project, however I had an opportunity to buy a Giulia Veloce Spider that I will be restoring instead of the Normale. The Giulia body appears to be all original with no evidence of previous rust repair or accident damage. There isn't really much rust considering it's all original. There are will be no surprises on this project since any rust has been revealed in the blasting process. The trunk pan was cut out in preparation of installing a new pan. I have done my best to depict where the rust spots are. The body panel gaps are all excellent, and the body is quite straight. The nose panel shows a small ding as you can see in the pictures. The Alfa comes with all of the original bumpers and also the eyebrows. The bumpers have quite a bit of rust on them and will need to be redone, however most importantly they original to the car which is critical since many of the early Alfa's have trim pieces that are specific to each car. The hood and trunk hinges are attached to the car as shown in the pictures for ease of transport. If you know how to weld, this project will be rewarding project. Wolf Steel currently offers all body panels now for Giulia's and Giulietta's which makes restoration possible for the home restorer or the professional. The Alfa comes with most of the interior components with the exception of the seats. It should be expected that all of the misc parts will need to be restored. Most of the parts have been boxed up and I have been doing my best to compile a list of the parts that come with the Alfa. I will be updating this list within the next few days. Besides the missing seats, the Alfa is also missing the windshield, however the windshield frame is included. All of the guages are included and the dash/radio mount has not been cut up. It still retains the original factory steering wheel as well. The 1600 engine is in non-running condition. (#AR*00112*14700), and was put back in the car to make transport easier. The transmission is in pieces and may not be complete or rebuildable. The convertible top frame was blasted and primed. As you can see, 3 of the wheels are later model Alfa wheels and are not original to the car. Most of the parts have been boxed up - approximately 8 boxes as well as all of the large parts. As stated, the Giulia Spider represents a wonderful opportunity to be brought back to it's former glory. It's a very rare European example with a very rare original color. A non red Giulia or Giulietta is quite rare which makes this Alfa a unique example. To be clear, it will need a full restoration. It is essentially complete with all of the important components (including correct engine) which is the most important part of selecting a car to restore - especially with vintage Alfa's where many parts were hand fitted. This will make this a relatively straight forward restoration especially now that there are so many more reproduction/restoration parts available now. As stated, these cars are appreciating nicely and would make a very sound investment for the Alfisti that always wanted a Giulia or Giulietta Spider. Comes with a clear Michigan title. Sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I will be adding more pictures within the next few days as well as a parts list. For the motivated buyer, I will consider ending the auction early. The fine print: If you have 5 or less feedback transactions, you must contact me prior to bidding. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of the auction end. If the deposit is not received, the Alfa will be offered to the next highest bidder. The balance is due within 7 days of the auction end date. The car must be picked up within 10 days of the auction end date. A $10.00 per day storage fee will be charged after the 10 days unless prior arrangements have been made. I have sold several vintage cars to overseas buyers with the buyers being extremely pleased with the sale. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. On Jul-30-13 at 23:24:37 PDT, seller added the following information: In an effort to inventory the parts that are included in the sale, I will do my best to list the major components included. As I had mentioned, the Alfa is essentially complete, with the exception of the seats & windshield. With that said, it wil be difficult to list every part that is included, so as mentioned, this list is a just a partial list. There are many more small parts that are boxed and will be included in the sale. I will also update this list as the auction progresses.
