Vehicle Detail
I recently purchased this vehicle on a whim believing I could finish it up in no time and have a cool ride. The previous owner spent 2 years getting it to the point that it could be driven, so I was sure it would be no big deal to complete the process. As a 70 year old, you think I would know better! Therefore, it is being offered for sale to someone motivated to follow it through to the finish.. There are many great things to say about the car and I`ll cover those first. The sheet metal is really solid. He took it down to the metal, fixed very few pinholes of rust on the fender dog legs, then sprayed it. When I drove it home, I took a magnet and went over the entire outside and found those lower fender areas the only places the magnet would not hold. There has been a repair to the passenger side rear floorboard, but the rest of the inside and the trunk floor is solid. All in all, this body is in great shape for a 47 year old car. I believe the steel hood is from an SS 396, but I don`t know that for a fact. Regarding the engine, he told me it was a 350. I looked for the stamped code on the passenger side cylinder head pad and found nothing. I then recalled seeing that missing only when a block has been decked, and I believe that was done here. After further inspection, I found two decals on the passenger side of the block indicating it was a Four Star rebuilt. It also had a production code, so I`m hoping I can research the number and get the engine information. I will add that to the description if I am successful. The transmission, I believe, is a Tremac T5 and shifts out fine. I believe the clutch is heavy duty. The rear end appears to be the stock 10 bolt. The wheels are 15" Rally with 215/60/R15 front, and 235/60/R15 rear. All the tires look great. By the way, I asked the previous owner why, after putting so much time and effort into the car, he was selling it. He explained that he had found a tractor he wanted, but had to keep it in the garage, so the car had to go. The car has a new front bumper, new radiator, new fuel tank, new exhaust pipes and mufflers, new door mirrors, new front windshield, and power disc brakes (drum rear). Now, the items needed. It has no headliner, is missing the stock front seats (he bolted some black buckets with tracks out of a VW, (I think). It is missing the heater controls and radio. It needs carpet, a dash pad (cracked), the rear parcel shelf cover, and glass moldings.. I have done my best to describe this car as it sits and apologize in advance if I have overlooked any important details. I feel there is a very reasonable reserve on the car and know that it has the potential of being a great driver once completed. As a matter of information for prospective bidders, the car sold on June 30th for $6600, but the sale was cancelled due to an international shipping issue. It was relisted and sold again on July 14th, but the winning bidder never contacted me and didn`t respond to any of my emails or calls. Please bid only if you truly hope to be the successful bidder and you are in a position to make arrangements for shipping. Thanks, and good luck bidding!
