1985 Volkswagen Vanagon Wolfsburg Edition Westfalia We have been with our Vanagon for six years( 13,ooo miles) but sadly must let it go. We our the second owners. This Westy has been garage kept it`s whole life and yes it does have a personality all it`s own. During our fun filled adventures we have replaced : 2011 Sears Die Hard battery2011 Bosch starter2010 (5) Hankook RA08 195C 140C tires2010 replaced exhaust gasket 2010 performed compression test ( each cylinder @ 140 lb)2010 muffler and tail pipe2009 water pump and front brake pads2009 alternator Most parts from BusDepot.com2006 belts and fuel filterEach year I do a tune up and oil change (about every 2000 mile)I use 92 or 93 OCT fuel ,runs much better Repairs I could not get to ; 1.When we bought the Vanagon , the power steering was not working so I bought a seal to stop the leak.After reading the manual I realized to call a professional.I went to two different mechanics and they said it would be a waste of money and I should have the steering box replaced for $700. 00 (parts and labor)So I left the steering belt off and drove it ,can`t tell the different but is something which you may choose to have done. 2.The gasket for the exhaust header pipe is started to leak again. Makes it a bit louder than it should be.I have replaced the muffler but it time to consider a new exhaust system. 3. The antenna for the radio it broke ($14. 00 @ busdepot.com) 4. The windshield has a couple of chips 5. I recharged the air-condition last year , cooler air comes out but I would not consider it in working order 6. The radio/ cassette player work ok I bought some extra parts that come the the auction: Set of back brake padsseal for steering boxA master clutch cylinder (2) disturbitor caps (2) rotorsand (2) rear wheel cylinders The Vanagon comes with a jack ,jack stands , a back door screen ,curtains that cover the entire glass , a propane stove forks spoons , plates and a refrigerator.Leave my house and go camping the same day; you have to bring your own food The interior is in very nice shape . The canvas is great but there is a small hole in the pop up screen . The screen can be un-zipped and replaced Other than that the Westy is in GREAT shape The body is in good shape minus some small scratches here and there.After reviewing pictures I noticed that the cleaner that I used on the back sit had not dried and shows up like a wet spot ,sorry. I WILL BE WILL TO REPLACE THESE ITEMS OR WILL DEDUCT THE PRICE OF REPLACING THEM OFF THE FINAL BILL .
