Vehicle Detail

If you have looked at this listing before, please reread becuse I have updated some information and given more details to cover areas I missed. PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR BANK TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET FINANCING BEFORE PLACING A BID. This is a 1997 Defender 90 Wagon. The last year they we’re imported into the United States. If you’re looking at this I assume you know the pedigree behind these vehicles. I purchased the D90 last March from a dealer in Chicago for $24,500 and drove it back home to Charlotte, NC (where I was living at the time). I’m not in the business of ripping people off or for that matter, even sales, so I’m going to shoot it to you straight. I want the buyer to know and understand what this car is and isn’t. Its a great truck and I will own another one (soft -top version since I moved to the coast now) but it's not to be confused with a luxury SUV. It’s got great low-end speed but rides a little rough. The Defenders have inherent roof and sunroof leaking issues. Its not a flood but there’s a little water drip. I called my bank to clarify... This vehicle has a rebuilt title. It was a salvage title at one time but is now listed as salvage/rebuilt. I believe it was wrecked in California or something and then rebuilt. So please know that going in and let your financer know. My bank didn’t think it was a big deal. I do know the damage from that wreck was more than likely in the rear because the rear door glass is not the period correct glass. It has no rear defrost or top break light (see picture). I couldn’t see any other signs from it other than that. It runs great and drives great. It has passed all the requirements to be road worthy after the salvage title was issued. PAINT: When I purchased it, it was Coniston Green with a white roof. I had a local paint shop paint it to the Land Rover Color: Stornaway Grey. They didn’t do an amazing job. They did inside the doors but there’s still some green that appears in the crevasses of the dash molding and randome spots on the interior. There are also a couple little blemishes here and there like poor taping. Overall though, I’m pretty anal when it comes to this stuff and I’m the only one that’s noticed. FRAME & BODY: The frame is in good shape. There’s some very light rust in places but nothing you wouldn’t expect from a 1997. The passenger side rear fender flare has a small hole in it where a small rock was launched through it (there when I got it). When I bought it, in the rear, it only had three seats & four seatbacks. I left the rear two jump seats because the others blocked the view and I rarely saw an opportunity for six passengers. The carpet looked rough so I removed it all and coated the inside with a rubberized grey truck bed paint. In the rear I added a $300 factory Land Rover full mat. MECHANICS: Runs like a top. Transmission works great, no slipping or crazy gear sounds. I just drove it for a 5 hour trip down the coast a little and back up on vacation to say goodbye to it. Other than oil changes, I’ve never had to have this in the shop. The digital odometer flickers sometimes, I read that it was a common problem due to a connector that gets pinched behind the speedo. The radio works great, has a usb & auxiliary hookup. The back side markers were unhooked for some reason before I got it and I never wired them back. The clock has a mind of its own. I have had it sitting for a few weeks and there is only two or three drops of oil... I expect that on a truck with 150K+ miles. THINGS I’VE DONE TO IT: New Paint New larger intakes in the front Put a rubberized paint coating on the inside where the carpet was LED Brake Lights (not just bulbs but the upgraded sealed housing) Factory Full Rubber mat in the rear New Rear Seatbelts Land Rover Seatbelt Pads New Rear Kicker Speakers Windows Tinted New Rear Door Trim So this is not one of those garage kept Defenders that are flawless and shouldn’t be driven. This thing is a daily driver that’s an eye catcher and I wish I could justify holding on to it and fixing all the little quirks cause it is so much fun to drive and be seen in. Shortly after I bought it, my company gave me a company truck so the Defender stays at home these days. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to message me. I have gotten some wild messages about this thing so let me clear this up, I appreciate the offers but I do not need anything for trade and $20,000 is as low as I'll go. You won't find another D90 for this price that looks & runs this good.I’m requiring a $500 deposit. This vehicle is as-is where-is. No warranty expressed or implied. The buyer is responsible for shipping.
