Vehicle Detail
Hey look! Just in time for summer cruising is this 68 Chevy II, all ready for the road. Talk about a cruiser, 5.3 fuel injected engine, dressed up with LS1 Corvette goodies, coupled with a 4L60e automatic overdrive transmission with electronic controls, this thing cruises down the road like a new car! Drive it as is, or this would be a great car to finish up in the pro touring style with some bigger wheels/ brakes/ and upgraded suspension. Check out the details listed below, and be sure to let the pictures all load! Body:Oregon car showing just 69k miles. Very original shape throughout car. Includes mileage log book with gas fill ups/ mileage readings through most of its life.Car has been painted with a basic paintjob at some point to brighten it up and fix up some dings here and there. I would say paint is a 5 out of 10, looks good from 30 feet, but could have used some more block sanding to get it straighter. It's a GREAT driver you don't have to worry about so much like a SHOW CAR!Underside is very solid, you can tell this was a solid car, still appears to have all of its original panels with the exception of the rear tail light panel, which may have been replaced due to a fender bender out back. Underneath was undercoated way back when and shows no rust in the floors, trunk, etcGlass is all good, drivers rear window comes off its track and needs a little attention Interior:Appears very original, with one decent rip in the upper passenger seat as seen in the pictures.Floor mat is vinyl and not in great shapeOverall appearance is stock and used. Replace it for that brand new look, or leave it as is, it is period correct for the year and mileage. Drivetrain:'03 5.3 LS style gen III fuel injected V8 engine, approx. 300hp w/ LS1 style intake w/ 75k miles'04 4L60e transmission w/ 69k milesNew engine management harness, o2 sensors, MAF sensors, dual 2.5" exhaust and all tuneup parts + gasketsRuns great, should get 20-25 MPG on the highway. Cruises at very low RPM and operates like a stock, newer vehicle!Stainless steel Rick's EFI fuel tank w/ in tank AC/Delco fuel pumpNew u-joints and balanced driveshaftFactory LS1 style radiator w/ dual fans, controlled to turn on by engine computer Suspension:All stock front and rear and originalAir shocks in the rear to adjust ride height and add capacity to stock mono leaf rear springsNew KYB shocks in the frontDrum brakes all around, with no power assistOriginal rearend with 3.08 gear Alright, any car has them, so the BADS!, I am pretty picky so I will list everything I can think of:Power steering has an occasional whine. I personally think it has totally bled the air all out yet. The engine itself is SILENT and runs perfectly smooth, but you can slightly hear the power steering pump. The paint and outer body as mentioned before is less than perfect. The perfectionist will notice the surface is not perfectly smooth, but the paint does have a nice shine and no major imperfections. It's a great driver, that cleans up well, plain and simpleThe speedometer does not work! I wanted to leave that up to the new owner, the choices are to cut up the dash for aftermarket gauges, which some people hate, or to adapt the electronic transmission to have a cable output as well as the electric one, therefore allowing the use of the factory speedo. This costs around $500 in partsThe brakes are drum, and manual. The car stops and drives safely, but they are NOT power discs by any means. I was going to fit the car with disc brakes up front but they didn't fit the 14" steel wheels on the car so I am going to leave that part up to the new owner. Some of you might want to throw a big set of Wilwood or Baer brakes on it with 18" wheels anyhow. This part leaves it kind of as a project car but you can definitely drive it now. Heck, take it on the Hot Rod Power Tour, enjoy it this summer, then do a brake and suspension upgrade next winter! All in all, this is a great driver you can enjoy RIGHT NOW and head out to your local car shows. It is less than perfect but is a very fun car as it sits and it really gets some attention when the hood is popped. This was built by a shop that specializes in LS swaps and is put together to be a reliable cruiser without headaches.
