Vehicle Detail

Classic 1989 Jaguar XJS Convertible V12 up for auction with NO RESERVE 61k original miles, Jaguar V12. Fully loaded, this is an world class British roadster. Factory convertible, first year of the XJS convertible that was not an aftermarket conversion. A joy to look at as well as drive. I've done the following mechanical work since I've had the Jag: exhaust work with all pipes welded, incredibly quiet considering it's a 12 cylinder car, the engine has a nice purr to it. Full tuneup including all plugs, alot of labor on a V12 considering how tight the engine comprtment is. New alternator, four new Pirelli tires with about 1000 miles on them, brakes, new radiator hoses (not all of them just the ones that were looking old) coolant flush, oil change and assorted relatively minor maintenace items. The cruise control does not work and the a/c turns on but doesn't blow cold (needs a charge), the fan motor works intermittently, it takes a few turns of the switch at times to get it going (needs a new rotary switch). The items I've listed may seem minor to someone who doesn't know these cars, but simply changing the plugs is hours and hours of labor. The alternator alone cost me close to $800 with installation. I've probably got over 10k into the Jag, considering this is a no reserve auction someone is going to get a timeless classic at a great price. I'll include the brand new metal Jaguar cat keychain I just got for $20 on Ebay, it's got a nice weight to it and feels good. Interior and cosmetics: Top operates manually, easy to do with one person, my wife has no trouble dropping and rasing it herself. Top is in great shape, no rips and the canvas is nice and strong. Remarkably quiet inside the car on the highway when top is up and windows are closed. All four power windows work properly. Both seats reupholstered at the same time with genuine Jaguar seat skins and new padding as well as new heated seat elements, seats are cushy and comfortable and warm up nicely for those chilly days when you want to take a drive with the top down. The upholstery shop told me that the new seat skins will lose their wrinkles over time. The wood trim is looking a bit old, you can buy the full set on Ebay now, all 12 pieces for $149 with free shipping - http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Pieces-WOOD-DASH-TRIM-KIT-JAGUAR-XJS-82-96-Mimo-0435A-/111025128912 .Original Jaguar stereo works well, I use a cassette adapter to plug in my ipod or phone, works perfectly. The paint is original and still shines up well, it has a nice gltter in the sun. The Jag has always been a "Garage Queen". No rust or bubbling anywhere on the car, the underside is close to spotless. Classic insurance for the Jaguar is only $190 a year, full comprehensive. Engine starts easily, low purr belies the immense power this V12 produces. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly with a "velvety" feel to the suspension due to the four shock absorbers in the rear. Runs very strong, tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. All directional/brake/turn signal/headlights and horn work. Shifts smoothly, stops easily and the suspension is remarkable. Drives overall like a European roadster should. I'm selling the Jag due to financial restraints, I don't know when I'll be able to afford another car of this calibre; we call it our "James Bond" car. We always gets compliments whenever we take the XJS out. Timeless British convertible roadster which will only appreciate in value. Good luck bidding!
