Vehicle Detail
Offered here for your consideration is a car I bought in the hills of East Tennessee, where I actually picked it up at the previous owner's barn where it had been stored for many years. What you are viewing is the car in its untouched state after trailering it to a local restoration shop, where I took pictures of it before covering it for storage there. Notice the dust coating from years in the barn! I was excited about restoring it, but did find that it is too much of a project for me to get into, so I'm running it for a 5 day auction to recoup my investment. The previous owner said he had it running before he stored it, and said he drove it around his yard. I think it will require work in order to get it on the road again, but here are the good and bad points I observed: First, so you'll be aware (I wasn't), it has rust on the frame, which will either need repair or replacement. Otherwise, there is some rust present here and there, mostly on the lower extremities, and on the floorboards, and I think it is fairly evident in the photos. Good news is the replacement parts are readily available at any suppliers, and I have a contact locally who has an entire frame at a low cost if you want to go that route. The body lines on this car are excellent and the doors shut well. The car has and excellent dash and guages, and an original steering wheel, which are often in worse shape on these cars. It has a pretty good set of original seats intact for their frames, which are also rare. The windshield is not broken and the frame is good, with a pair of optional wind wings, which are themselves sought after! Most of the cars I looked at had broken glass. This car has some very good sheetmetal, with some of the body panels costing upwards of $1000 each themselves, and the front nose/mouth/apron (whatever you call it) is in excellent shape and I've been told these are unobtainable and cost over $2000 when you find one, and this one's original! Bumpers are all present and straight as well, which is not common I saw as I looked around for one of these cars to restore. The tires appear brand new, and they are mounted on what is a period slot mag wheel, and all four are in excellent shape with centers. Great rare period wheels that really set it apart from others. (The original steel spare is still in the under-boot compartment. Assume it may need the brake and clutch hydraulics rebuilt since it has been sitting awhile, but the parts are relatively inexpensive. It is a complete straight car needing a full restoration, and that is how I am representing it. It therefore is being sold in its as is condition, with no warranties, and all sales are final, with no refunds. It is the responsibility of the bidder/buyer to determine that it is what is expected, prior to bidding, and viewing the car is encouraged as it is difficult to describe every detail of an old car such as this. Please ask questions and I will answer as homestly as possible to the extent of my knowledge. Mileage is unknown but a number is required in ad. The winning bidder is to pay a $1000 deposit by Paypal or wire transfer upon auction end within 24 hours, with the balance being sent within 10 days by wire or cashiers check. The title has been signed by the previous owner and will be conveyed to the new owner in this manner with a bill of sale attached. There are no liens and it is clear. I can assist with meeting your transport but all associated costs will be the buyer's. On Apr-19-13 at 06:28:51 PDT, seller added the following information: More info on this car...a Triumph enthusiast has provided an insight that may be of interest. The body tag on the firewall pictured, and features such as raised pressings under hinges and square rear floor, he states, indicate that the car, or at least the body shell, may be part of the TSF run of TR3"B" cars, which were the last of the TR3's produced. These later cars are a good bit more valuable per value guides, possibly achieving in the $35K range if restored. So if you are a restorer and wanted to seek out the possibilities, the the tag number could be researched in the archives of the British Motor Industry Heritage, http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/archive-services/. Meanwhile, the car is titled and registered as described, and sold with current registration info. Above info is noted for disclosure purposes, and I do not attest to the validity or originality of any of the attached number plates, or any knowledge of the accuracy of the writer's statements, nor do I claim to know the car's 50+ year history. Good news is that it appears complete and worthy of a full restoration. No chasing down missing expensive "bits" that is typical of most restorations. Again the car is sold as is with no warranties so you decide. Just the exellent parts making up this vehicle are worth well beyond the current bid price at time of this update. Further, I have access to a set of original type steel wheels with chrome hubcaps, and tires mounted, which I will obtain, and remove & replace existing wheels & tires, for any winning bidder who desires original versus the "custom" look of the mags.On Apr-20-13 at 12:07:33 PDT, seller added the following information: In the trunk are a set of side curtains and an old convertible top.
