Vehicle Detail

'87 CR500, Owned Since '88 My friend (original owner) raced approx. 6 times in '87, I did 10 points races in '88, trail rode it a little for fun then parked it. I did buy newer CR500's afterwards- '89, '91, & '93, & '95 but really liked this one and kept it even after the newer ones came and went. Before i rode it last year i pulled the top end to check things out. It's still on Standard bore although i replaced the Ring since i was already in there. The original Ring only had .004" end gap more than new ring! Definitely confirmed the low hours. I also replaced the Air Filter, a Fork seal, a crank seal, a chain roller and rubbing block, and the brake pads. I can produce the receipts. The motor is tight, and goes faster than it needs to. It has been down and the radiators have been tweaked but they don't leak-at all. Put some new tires suitable for your terrain, a fork seal, probably another crank seal and the countershaft seal and you're ready for a season of racing. Compared to the cost of a 450F bike, you will have a lot of money left over and should own the first turn if you're a decent starter! 500's Rule! But you better be in shape! I've got a few extras that i will throw in-gripper seat cover, fork boots, jets, etc. Bike will be sold with a Bill of Sale Only. They didn't have titles for MX bikes back then. Would prefer local pick up but could crate and put on my shipping dock for add'l $150-Transportation at Buyers cost. Will accept Paypal deposit, and Cash or Paypal for final payment. Thanks for looking and best of luck! Note: while cleaning up i noticed a long forgotten 3" long flat spot on bottom of frame rail by the right footpeg, and a small piece of bolt hole broken off clutch side cover-neither have effected performance in 25 years-and won't in another 25. I will throw in an aluminum skid plate so that won't happen again. I can send pic. On Apr-19-13 at 11:46:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, got a pic from the bottom, my memory thought it was worse, this isn't much more than the typical wear from the ruts toward the end of a race day on our fine East Coast tracks! It looks like the bottom bolt boss on the clutch cover is the one that took a hit too.
