Vehicle Detail
Featured here is one of the rare one year only TR 250's offered here for total restoration. I bought it on ebay last year from a well-known Triumph collector. It deserves to be brought back to its former glory, but I don't have the knowledge or expertise. Restored ones are selling for $25K. I paid half that but will sell for whatever the fair market brings here on ebay. I did set a low reserve in case no one is looking on ebay this week! The car is pictured at the restoration shop where I have it stored and covered. The mechanic has it running very well, although he says it needs a muffler, and clutch slave and master cylinder, to drive it. Rare genuine mag wheels from the 60's were popular Wolfrace style fitted on racing cars throughout the era. Proper 15" Michelin radials are old and should be replaced. Included with the car at my expense and no charge to you is a new left floorboard which it needs. I removed it from someone's incomplete restoration; and also included are NEW right & left rocker panels. This car will need a little patching done at the rear frame but looks pretty straightforward and not severe. Looks amazing in engine compartment...see photos. Bumper is attached for photos, and was removed for straightening but will replate nicely. Fiberglass transmission tunnel included to replace the fiberboard one. Also, the factory top "boot" pictured in one of the photos is included, but you'll need a new top. The car came from a non-title state for older vehicles, so one was not required by ebay to be provided by the collector I bought it from on ebay last year. If your state requires a title, I will provide a notarized bill of sale only--not a title--and you may be able to use that to obtain one but I don't know. Check with your state vehicle registration office as that is all I can provide. Mileage statements are not required here and I don't know the actual mileage. I am selling the car as is with no warranties. Car available for viewing or ask questions. Ascertain it is what you want before bidding as all sales are final. I can assist with meeting your shipper or loading but you must ship or bring trailer. Thanks and good luck.On Apr-14-13 at 06:37:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Less than 2 days before auction end but I thought you might be interested in seeing Sandy Thomson's (former owner & also I think he is a noted Triumph consultant for Vintage Triumph Register) description he wrote for his ebay ad at $11,995 last year (It is important to note that this is not my representation of the car, and I have noted a few "overlooked' items in his description): For Sale is my TR250 in good overall condition. Vehicle has spent most of it's life in Arizona with two previous owners. Body panels and frame are in good condition with no typical rust in quarter panel seams, trailing arm frame sections, etc. Engine, clutch and transmission have all been rebuilt within the last 10,000 miles and are in good condition. Suspension is excellent, nearly new muffler, brakes work, but pedal seems soft. Engine compartment is very original and in excellent condition with absolutely no rust. Interior is decent but original. Dash should be replaced but gauges are in very good condition and everything works. Seat vinyl needs repair. Vinyl top is included but needs to be installed. This is a very good driver quality car or an excellent candidate for a high-end restoration. I listed this car several weeks ago but had to leave town unexpectedly before I could post pictures and the listing expired. I live near Baltimore and can deliver to the Port of Baltimore for overseas bidders for a reasonable fee.($250 prepaid) Notorized "Bill of Sale" will be provided if required. Inspections are welcome prior to bidding. Several TR250s on Ebay have recently been bid to the mid-20k range, so I feel my reserve price and "Buy Now" price are very reasonable for this vehicle. Please email or call with questions or shipping inquiries. 410-253-851nine I have had many inquiries for pictures of engine compartment, trunk area etc. I had only four more spaces for pics so I loaded engine compartment pictures (I have more) and will see if I can remove other pics to make room for front view of car and trunk etc. I have also had inquiries if this car was ever wrecked and it has not...you are looking at original paint in the engine compartment. The car has been painted twice in it's lifetime and the color is accurate. Thank-you for your interest On Apr-15-13 at 05:10:09 PDT, seller added the following information: I have taken some pics of the rear frame I can send if you forward me your email address. The mechanic adjusted the carbs and got it running really well. Fuel pump developed a leak and there's a drip from a freeze plug in the rear of the head that should be changed--both should be quick easy fixes. Not much left to get it driving! Thanks.
