Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a very ORIGINAL 1971 Ranchero Spring Special. This Ranchero was born right here at the Atlanta Assembly plant in December of 1970 and sold NEW at Roy C. Ford in Corning, California!!! This is a Super clean and rock solid 1971 Ranchero that still wears its ORIGINAL paint. This Ranchero was ordered with Ford's Special Value Package 'A' and came with the Unique Striping, Hood Black out, Black Painted cargo area in bed, and trim rings and caps as documented by the Deluxe Marti Report for the car. This Ranchero is one of 1,182 Ranchero's with the Special Value Package 'A', but it is one of only 30 cars built with this unique Paint and Trim Code....making this a fairly rare Ranchero!! Based on those numbers you are not likely to run into another one of these at your local cruise night!! This car is a never wrecked, rusted or busted Ranchero Spring Special that has been garaged all of its life! It was ordered new in California and then driven back here to Georgia in the mid-late 70's where it has resided in a climate controlled garage ever since. It was a driver for many years and then just put away when the original owner became too old to drive it. I got it from the 2nd owner who got it from the original owner and he did nothing to it except put it in his garage under a cover. He never drove the car!! I got this awhile ago and have been performing the tasks associated with bringing it back to driver status after its long hiatus from road duty. The gas in it was just nasty from sitting so we pulled the tank and had it boiled out by a radiator shop. Also blew out the fuel lines and put a rebuilt carb on it. While we were at it we changed the oil, put a new timing chain in it and installed a new water pump on the car. Redid the brakes, replaced alternator, new battery fuel lines etc. Still working on the car as we speak to get some of the long term storage kinks out of it; but car now runs very well! The more this car is driven the better it feels!! Starts, runs, drives, stops, runs cool as it should!! Just needs more seat time to stretch its legs! Here is the list of things done thus far to the truck to bring back to a 'driver' status! New Battery New Voltage Regulator New Plugs, Points, and Condenser New Belts New Hoses Rebuilt Master Cylinder New Brakes New Shocks New Timing Chain Rebuilt Water Pump Rebuilt Alternator Rebuilt Carburetor Rebuilt Fuel Pump Fuel Tank vatted and coated This is far from a perfect time piece; but it is an unrestored survivor!! The original paint has some nicks and scratches as well as some minor dings here and there; but overall cosmetically is a very presentable car. It has a primer spot on the tailgate which I think was done to cover a thin spot on the upper edge but I have not tried to wet sand it off to say for sure what's under it. The factory hood black out is getting a little thin in spots; but still looks very good!! The Black Vinyl Top is perfect!! The interior shows some wear on the cloth seat from its early everyday driver use. Dash pad is cracked too! For some reason this car was ordered with a rubber mat in it instead of carpet, but the Blue rubber mat looks to be very clean and has worn well over the years! This 71 Ranchero is a base model and was equipped with the GT trim on it from day one. It has the Base V8 in a GT the F-code 302-2V enigne and a 3 speed manual transmission. It has power steering and drum brakes. It was ordered in White with the Factory Hood Black out, a Silver Side Stripe and a Blue Carousel Stripe Cloth/Vinyl Bench Seat Interior. The bed is blacked out per the Spring Special option and is in excellent shape!! It was equipped when new with a Protect-o-Top Hard Tonneau cover and it has protected the bed from damage all these years. There is no rust through or rot to speak of anywhere on this truck that I can find!! This is a NEAT old Truck and a much better truck than your typical old beater Ranchero you find for sale out there. This car has been driven and used, but not used up!! It has been taken care of, respected and maintained.........and it shows!! The Ranchero is shown with a set of Vintage 5-spoke Mags on it; but will be sold with the original Steel Wheels with Factory Trim Rings and Center Caps as shown in the promotional literature. If someone absolutely had to have the Vintage 5-spoke mags we can discuss them as a separate item with the purchase of the Ranchero. If you are looking for a cool vintage ride to make those Home Depot and Ace Hardware runs that won't break the bank then this could be the ticket for you!! Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the item and its sale. I expect payment within 7 days of auction end. This is a 40+ year old car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is where-is' with now warranties either expressed or implied. I have described this 1971 Ranchero accurately so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully and make sure this is what you want before bidding. If you are not sure please do not bid. I take my auctions seriously and so should you. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!! More than just a pretty picture. Try Vendio Image Hosting.
