Vehicle Detail
1973 TRIUMPH TR-6 . .OVERDRIVE Presented for your consideration and inspection is this lovely, professionally restored and well sorted 1973 Triumph TR-6 Roadster, turned out in stunning Sapphire Blue with a welcoming Biscuit interior. (Bill Piggott, noted automotive author on this Marque, describes Sapphire Blue as “the most beautiful color for the TR-6”.) History:The second owner purchased this TR-6 while living in Colorado in 1983 and relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 1997. After holding this Triumph for 26 years and accumulating only 58000 mile she offered the car for sale in 2009. The new owner commissioned a comprehensive restoration by a local Jaguar/Triumph specialist in 2010/11. The current owner, a fastidious collector, insisted that only the finest, quality replacement parts available be utilized in the rebuild of this awesome example. Parts used in the rebuild were obtained from noted premium venders like Moss Motors, Victoria British, Roadster Factory and variable UK sources to name a few. During the high quality, frame off restoration, every component was addressed and either, rebuilt, restored or replaced .The engine, overdrive transmission and differential were all rebuilt as necessary. Great emphasis was paramount to restore original parts and components, whenever feasible, to retain authenticity, originality and provenance. The body was removed, stripped and refinished top to bottom in the original Sapphire Blue. Panel fit and closing gaps are exemplary and the paint finish, flawless. The frame and suspension components were stripped and a coating of POR 15 was liberally applied to both inside and outside of the structures, then refinished in the correct chassis black paint finish. All suspension and braking components were totally restored and re installed on the chassis before the painted body shell was mounted. The interior, including all panels, seats, carpeting and trim was completely restored. While the factory interior color code calls for #27, Shadow Blue, the new owner opted for the much more appealing and eye-catching Triumph #13, Biscuit, to better complement the vibrant Sapphire Blue exterior. Rather than purchase a readily available replacement wood dash facia, the original wood facia was restored back to new condition by a local craftsman over the course of six weeks. All the rubber in the car has been replaced, including door seals, weather stripping, engine mounts, plinths, etc. A premium new Robbins top was installed with the correct reflective strips and is complemented by a new soft top vinyl boot. The original tonneau cover is included and in very good condition. The British Leyland radio functions as it should and has been retrofitted with an iPod connector hidden in the glove box. This TR6 runs and drives well, displaying excellent road manners. The engine performs well throughout the rpm range with a distinct, pleasant exhaust note. The exhaust flows through a tubular, performance exhaust header and exits through a new, mild steel, original style exhaust system. The clutch engages nicely and transmission operation is smooth and precise. The overdrive operates at the flick of the switch, making every driving experience an exciting event. A thermostatically controlled auxiliary electric cooling fan has been integrated into the engine cooling system, so the engine runs cool, even in 110 degree, rush hour traffic. Electronic ignition and performance Weber carburfetors have been installed to enhance the driving experience. The original Zenith Stromberg carburetors are included in the sale. Also included in the sale are the spare tire and wheel, jack, owners manual, 2 cartons of old and new parts and consumables, historical documentation, including sales brochures, restoration receipts, and insurance and registration documents, dating back to 1984. Additional features include: a hidden ignition kill switch, emergency bonnet release, previously mentioned iPod connector with switch, etc. The buyer is responsible for shipping and insurance. Buyer to forward 10% of the total sales price within 3 days of auction close and the balance, in certified funds, within 10 days of close of auction. The car may remain in its present secure storage facility for an additional 30 days while the buyer makes travel and shipping arrangements. PayPal is only applicable for the deposit on this sale. This is private party sale. There is no Arizona State Sales Tax. There are no additional charges or ducument fees. I reserve the option to end this auction early and sell this vehicle via alternative advertising. Thank you for your kind attention and Good Luck!
