Vehicle Detail

This is a great Audi A4 1.8L Quattro that I've had since November of 2011. I bought this from my mechanic who used this as his personal car and took exceptional care of it. I've used this daily and it has been a very reliable car. It shifts smoothly and the clutch is very easy. It runs great and drives well. As with any car, this one has some quirks and problems and I want to fully disclose them as much as possible. Here is what I know is wrong with the car: My mechanic just looked this car over and let me know that the control arm bushing on the passenger side is cracked and needs to be replaced. The front brakes and rotors need to be replaced. The rear brakes were replaced just before I purchased it in 2011.The tires are ok, but I think the control arm bushing caused uneven wear on the front passenger tire that you can see in the photo below.Look at the picture of the center of the dash; the pull-out cup holder does not push in all the way. This happened a few months ago, but I have not taken it apart to try and fix it.The driver's side window goes down smoothly, but every once in a while it will squeak. It squeaks for a few times and then stops for a while. The window going up is a little different story. It needs a little assistance most of the time. What I do is gently push up on the window with the side of my hand to give it the extra boost it needs to close all the way. I'm sure there is an adjustment inside that can be tweaked. The remote key fob does not work. The battery is fine in the remote, so I think it's the RF module in the trunk. All of the doors can lock and unlock manually just fine. The wiper switch just started not working properly. About 30% of the time, it works fine, but if the wipers don't go on, I have to turn the switch all the way to 'high' and then back it down to the speed I want. The wipers always work if you start at the 'high' setting.Since the weather started getting cold in the last month in Florida, we began to notice a buzz in the passenger side upper door speaker. When it warms up outside, the buzz goes away in the speaker. I'm sure it just needs to be replaced. The rear speakers were blown in this car when I bought it. If I were keeping the car, I would replace them. I just use the 'fade' to turn them off in the back. The cruise control does not work in this car since I bought it. I found a fix for it on the internet that involved re-soldering the control board. I have not taken this on yet, but it seems like it can be fixed. The LCD display does not display properly and sometimes shuts off altogether. I think it might be a connection problem. You can see the picture below of the dash that there are some lines missing in the information center. The fuel gauge will intermittently fall to 'zero' because of a contact problem with the sensor. The lower the fuel level in the car, the more often it flips to zero. The previous owner had it working for a while, but in the past six months, it started doing it again. I just make sure I reset the 'trip' counter so I know how many miles I am into the tank of gas every time I fill it.In the upholstery pictures below, you can see there is a cigarette burn on the back seat on the driver's side. The adhesive on the headliner has failed in the back and it is starting to droop as you can see in the picture. It does not obstruct the view in the back of the window and passengers can sit in the back and not be bothered by it.Notice in the pictures on the driver's side, the car has been damaged on the front fender and the driver's door. I took some close-ups to show the issues. The only rust on this car is on the hood where I also took a close-up.There is a bezel missing on the driver's side fog light. I have not looked for one, but I'm sure it's possible to find one on eBay.Other than these issues, the car is very pleasant to drive and I've enjoyed it. I did replace the alternator this summer and put in a new battery. I have changed the oil every 5,000 miles with synthetic Mobil 1 oil. Here is a link to a short video of me starting the car and walking around it.
