Vehicle Detail
1971 Hemi Cuda This is an original Big Block 383, 4spd, B5 Blue, white interior, black Billboard Cuda that has been upgraded from a 383 Magnum to a 426 Hemi. Only 1739 383 4spd Cudas were produced in 1971. Only about 200 Cudas had the rare Billboard stripe option from the factory. Please read through this option list on the original fender tag so you can understand why this car is up at the top of the list of desirable Cudas. It really doesn’t matter since the car has been restored. This car has most of it’s original sheet metal. The lower quarters have been replaced correctly, the fenders are original. A Steel Shaker hood has been added. The floors and frame are very clean. As you can see in the pics, the underbody has been cleaned up nicely. The suspension was detailed along with the drive train. The trunk floor has been patched. The patch job is sloppy. They did not feel that the condition of the trunk floor was severe enough to replace it. It is obviously not visible once the trunk mat is in place. The paint on the body is not show quality. There are no obvious scratches or dents but there are some imperfections in the paint. It is not as smooth as glass the way that it would be on a show car. It is good enough for cruise night shows and showing off to friends. It could possibly be brought up to higher standards if it compounded and buffed. Every person that sees the car is still impressed with the way that it looks. The original glass is in very nice shape with no serious scratches. Drive train: The original 383 is not present, I do not have it. It has been replaced with a 426 Hemi that is built with very high quality components: Eagle Rods, Isky Cam, single 4 barrel carb, Electronic ignition, 500 HP and runs on pump gas. The motor is freshly rebuilt with only test miles. It reliably starts right up on demand Correct hemi components have been used including: Hemi motor mounts, hemi K frame, Hemi Pulleys, Exhaust manifolds etc. The motor is backed up to an 833 4spd trans and a 4:10 Dana rear. The wheels are 15x 7 Rallys. The complete drive train is in new condition. The car stops with Factory Disk brakes. Interior: The dash pad is perfect; the seat covers are also in perfect condition with no rips, wear or tears. The door panels are original black panels not repros, they do have imperfections that may not be visible in the pics. The factory AM radio works. The original color of the interior was Black and white. If you desire to put it back to original, you would need to swap the seat covers and door panels. The black carpet and dash would stay black. The rim blow steering wheel has minor cracks and needs a new horn sensor. The original chrome rocker moulding show some fading. The Original Grill is in very nice condition. The wiper arms are in excellent condition but have been buffed to a higher shine then factory. The bumpers are straight and the chrome is very nice. One very light scratch in rear window. A space save tire and jack are in the trunk. Rad support was replaced early on with an NOS unstamped support. All of the following numbers match: Dash VIN Tag Door VIN tag Fender Tag VIN Cowl VIN The fender tag is original, I do not have the broadcast sheet. This is a great car to own. There is a big difference between a 71 hemi cuda clone made from a Barracuda(318 or 6 cyl car) and this car. The fact that this is a real big block ,4spd, blue/White interior, Black billboard cuda, it will go up in value as the collector car market rises. A clone car is only worth the parts and labor to make one. 71 Hemi Cuda Clones that are no where near as desirable as this real Cuda, regularly sell between $65k-$85k. Please make a reasonable offer. I will consider interesting trades up or down. I love Cudas, Challengers, hard tops and converts. I like Pontiac Trans Ams. Mach Ones. W30s, Stage ones, etc. I am open to lots of cool stuff. You are welcome to inspect the car before you buy it. Please do not make an offer or hit the buy it now if you are not prepared to purchase the car. $1000 deposit is due via paypal within 48 hours of purchase. The balance is due within 7 days. I will make myself available to help load the car on to the transport truck of your choice. Email me for my phone number if you would like to speak with me. This car is described accurately, you will not be disappointed. I have great feed back and have been a real Cuda enthusiast for about 40 years.
