Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1958 Double Door Panel. Built in late 57 i have had this bus for quite a while and drove it all over a few years back but know it just sits and we have other projects to tend to so sadly we must let it go. I have a clean California title in my name and it has been " NON-OPT" since 2007.I bought it from an older gentleman who bought it and let it sit in his yard. When i bought it it didn't have a motor, trans or wheels and tires and it had a complete camper kit in it........I bought it but he kept the camper kit so here is what i have done: BODY: It has a bad nose, it needs a skin as i bought it this way, missing the windshield glass it has its typical rust in front floors, driver side dog leg and inner and outer rocker. The passenger side has already had the inner and outer rocker replaced, lower cargo doors replaced and the belly pan on that side fixed. It has the wrong year engine lid, taillights and has the camper windows cut in. On a good note The rear wheel wells have never been cut, it does have its original front doors, 2 cargo doors, rear hatch and what i believe is its original front pressed bumper. It does have the large "Sekurit" logo on the door and hatch windows and has the correct door handles, headlights, front emblem, and has a single outlet "church key" rear apron. The body still needs plenty rust repair and bodywork but overall it is a good start. INTERIOR: Or lack there of. It has its original seat, steering wheel, column, pedals and wiring. Wrong year speedo and someone has put in a factory gas gauge. But it has the correct shifter, panel divider and little bits. ELECTRICAL: The original loom has been repaired. The headlights, taillights, turn signals, dome lights, dash lights etc all work and the charging system charges as well. ENGINE: It is a stock 1600 single port that was rebuilt several years ago but runs great and never has given me any trouble. I have tried to use all german parts when i put this motor in. Recently rebuilt the carb, installed a new bosch starter and rebuilt dist with all new wires, plugs etc. It has a sachs clutch in it that works great as well. TRANSMISSION: I bought it at the same time as the motor from a friend who upgraded from stock to a larger motor. So i bought his motor and trans. The trans was rebuilt as well as the reduction boxes and works fine............unknown mileage on both engine and trans. BRAKES: Just redone. German drums turned, new shoes, hardware, seals, wheel cylinders, hoses and master cylinder with brake switch. All parts german except master and all from Wolfsburg West. WHEELS\TIRES. Painted ghia wheels with brand new 205/75/15 radials with custom painted early style hub caps. While this bus still rough and needs things to be totally driveable it is a good start. I will include a box of extra bits and pieces that go with it. Note: There is no reserve or "buy it now" just a straight auction so bid to win. Feel free to ask any questions.
