Vehicle Detail
I am re listing this car because the winning bidder "agar1619" did not pay or return any of my emails, the listing ended on 2/13/13 So,,,,,, Up for auction again, is a 1968 Mercury Cougar X-Code 390 with AC, power disc brakes, power steering, Tilt wheel, auto on the floor, deluxe interior. This car will need floors and frame rails along with torque boxes, Trunk floor is pretty solid, Wheel houses have some rust but can be saved. The shock towers are good, Left fender apron has been replaced by previous owner, firewall and cowl are still good. Rockers are solid with the exception of the last couple of inches witch have some rust and will need patched, quarters will need patched or replaced. Both doors have some rust in the front bottom corner of the skins, Passenger fender is good, the drivers fender is a 67 and no good, underside of deck lid is rusted, Passenger B pillar has a rust hole, the back glass channel has some rust holes also, Hood has a little underside rust but can be repaired. I was told by a Cougar Expert, that the engine is the original motor to the car, He verified it by showing that the back of the left head has the same numbers that are on the vin tag. I filled the carb bowls with fuel and ran it for a few seconds at a time, I did this a total of three times "so the motor never came up to temperature" But it does run good! I chocked it off with tranny fluid the last time that I started it, for storage purposes. The numbers on the block are C8AE It also has an X cast in the block under the intake. its has the 14 bolt exhaust heads correct for cougar and mustang. Although it was originally a 2V motor it now has an S-code 4-bbl intake on it. C6 Transmission, Ford 9-in rear end. The car is rough but is worth saving since it is an X-Code, they did NOT make very many big block Cougars. I have most all the parts for it as well. Keep in mind that the photos make the car look better than it really is. This auction will end around 9:15 pm. Central time on 3/10 "Daylight Savings Time, Sunday" If you have any questions, feel free to call Shawn 217-523-2157 or 217-299-0750 The car is for sale locally at $2,500.00 so I reserve the right to end this auction early. Thanks for looking!!!!!! On Mar-04-13 at 19:37:42 PST, seller added the following information: THE WINNING BIDDER IS TO PAY FOR AND PICK UP THE CAR WITHIN ONE WEEK OF AUCTIONS END! ALTHOUGH I DO HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT, I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE CASH in person TO AVOID THE extra FEES. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, THE FINAL AUCTION PRICE IS THE PRICE OF THE CAR AND (NON NEGOTIABLE) IN PERSON!!! On Mar-07-13 at 20:14:49 PST, seller added the following information: I have had several inquiries about the tilt steering wheel, It has a mechanism under the dash that has a small vacuum canister and a three prong plug in. The steering column has a cable coming out of it that goes to this mechanism. What it does is, when you open the left door this mechanism releases the tilt part and allows the steering wheel to lift up automatically. It's a really cool feature of this cougar. This car is a unique one with the odd options that it has,,, I'm not sure that they made very many of them this way. I have had a lot of request's about the reserve price. I might consider lowering it .
