Vehicle Detail

This is a custom built Multipurpose Van, an ALL-IN-ONE vehicle that combines the advantages of a RV, load carrier and utility van. It's great for work, travel and recreation. It served me well for about seven years now, and at 90,000 miles it’s still running great and needs just minimum maintenance. Key Features: It has the facilities of an RV (running water, stove, toilet and couch/bed), but it's a lot less expensive than a factory built RV van (at this mileage a typical '02 RV-van runs anywhere between $30.000 and $60.000). It's lightweight built, to keep the weight down and to increase fuel efficiency. As a result it gets 17-18 MPG on the freeway and 13-14 MPG in town, which is about 1-2 mpg better than an RV-van. Being equipped with a strong engine, it can carry heavy loads and also hitch a trailer. It pulled a 24' RV Trailer - fully loaded - from San Francisco, to Lake Tahoe, to LA, crossing passes over 8,000 feet of altitude. The walls of the van are built with house insulation, maintaining the inside temperature better than a typical RV. It also dampens the sound very well. There is a lot of storage space inside for food, clothes, equipment and materials (including for large items like ladders, kayaks, bikes etc). The van can easily convert from work to travel/recreation, and vice-versa. You can also use it for both purposes at the same time. I've done that on multiple occasions. The running water needs no pump and therefore no electricity. Its gravity based, using two containers of 7 gallons each. For cooking and eating there is a folding table and a portable stove. For perishable food there is an ice chest that you can plug in to the cigarette lighter. In one of the cabinets there is a portable potty. When nature calls, just slide it out and you are ready to go. There is also a room separator that you can easily set up for privacy. The ceiling vent provides good ventilation and light inside the van. It has two on/off switches, one for the fan and one for the lights. The interior of the van has 3 distinct sections, which are completely separated by doors:The front compartment is obviously for driving; The central/main compartment is for recreation. Here you can comfortably crash in while traveling. The couch turns into a bed for two and all the facilities are there (running water, toilet, stove, table and a lot of shelf space for your everyday items); The back compartment is for extra storage. Plenty of room for working tools, photo and video gear, outdoor equipment etc. Very handy. You can access it from the inside, or by opening the back doors of the van. These three compartments can be unified into one continuous space by removing the separating doors. This is particularly useful when you need to transport long items inside the van (up to 16 feet long). You can also remove the two shelves from the back if you need room for very large and bulky items. Or you can remove only the upper shelf and turn the lower shelf into an extra bed. Max 3-4 people can sleep in this van, but the space is designed to be comfortable for two. On top of the van there is also room for solar panels if you want to invest in something like that (not provided with the van). You can also install a roof rack and get ladders, kayaks or other long items up there. All in all, this is a very practical vehicle. It’s versatile. You can use it for work, travel and recreation. You can even live in it for short periods of time, while traveling or working on location. From the outside it looks just like a regular work van, so you are basically in stealth mode in public places. It’s also clean and well maintained, strong, spacious and quite economical for its size. This van is built to be used. Since my work and lifestyle changed, I now travel a lot less and I don't get to use it much anymore, so I decided to sell it. I hope that it will get in the hands of someone who needs it on a regular basis and takes good care of it from now on as well. Best of luck! On Feb-26-13 at 10:14:20 PST, seller added the following information: Note: On Feb 15 I had to do the smog check, which is valid for 90 days. So that's already taken care of and paid for, you won't have to worry about it.
