I am reluctantly selling my 1989 Avanti Convertible which I have owned for 5 years. We have a home on Lake Michigan and a condo in Florida and we will be moving down south permanently some time later this year. I have already sold four of my other cars since I will not have the space any longer. This Avanti runs, drives and shifts splendidly. Paint is in excellent condition Convertable top is like new, black origional, and the inside top linner is tan and very nice. The back window is very good. Power top works as new and has origional tan boot. Fiberglass body, but not sure this car might be part Carbon Fiber and Kevlar. It is rock solid. Avanti Motors did both. Everthing works on this car even the remote key fob, locks and alarm. Origional Avanti keys, two sets, and one key fob. Tires like new 6,750 miles and wire wheels are also in good condition. Sports Suspension has HOTCHKIS sway bars front and rear, with EDELBROCK trailing arms and KYB adjustable shocks.Feels like the car is glued to the road. Chassis is a Chevy Caprice with a steel reinforced steel frame, no body shakes on this convert. Avanti Motors in Youngstown, Ohio would purchase new Chevy Caprice cars from GM. The body was taken off and the frame was altered to fit the fiberglass body. In 89 Ground effects were added to the body side molds, for each side of the car to hide the new style frame. The new effects gave the car a nice raked look. A front bumper with nice new effects, air intake with spoiler and built in running lights. Nice lower look to the front. All new for 89. New 89 rear bumper effects to match sides. Standard Features on this car, please see photo from origional brochure, wow!!!! Optional Features added. Wood Rim Steering Wheel - All Leather Interior - Wire Wheels - Sports Suspension - Premium Sound System - Compac Disc Player 6-Way Power driver and passenger seats - Keyless Remote Entery System with Alarm- Time Delay Headlights. New air compressor, blows ice cold - New Cruse Control Speed Sensor - Belts and hoses are almost new. Rebuilt and replaced power window cables in both rear windows. Car drives stright as a arrow and there are no trans or oil leaks. Items not perfect: Front seats show normal wear for a car 24 years old. Rear seats are like new . One stainless steel muffler has a inside baffel that vibrates at low RPM and goes away. For what it's worth this 89 car sold new for $ 53,000.00 plus tax.
