Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE AUCTION You are viewing a very rare "garage find" example of a 1960 MGA 1600 Roadster. Car number: 787543 The MG has been garage stored for many years. It is fitted with the original 1600 engine with correct SU Carbs. Mileage is estimated at 110,000 (odometer shows 10,000). According to the longtime owner, it had been running about 3 years ago, but at this time it is in non running condition. This "A" will make an excellent restoration project for the MG enthusiast. I am offering the MG at "no reserve" so that it will be affordable to the budget minded MG enthusiast. I will consider ending the auction early for the motivated buyer that would like to make a strong offer. With that said, do not hesitate to contact me if you are seriously interested in acquiring the MG. I am selling the "A" and will be selling my TR3 in an effort to generate the funds to finish my Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider restoration. I will be adding additional pictures in the next day or so. As stated, the MGA has been dry stored for many years and will need to be restored to make it roadworthy. The MG received an amateur restoration about 30 years ago. It was used as a weekend car, and then ultimately parked and unused for many years. As a keen MG enthusiast you have probably noted that the color is not original. It was originally Red with a Red Leather interior. The repaint was a low quality job, and there is plenty of overspray in the engine compartment. There is also evidence of liberal use of bondo on the body which is evidenced by some cracking in areas on the body and a the passenger side door which shows a some bondo that came off. The rocker panels were redone at some point - not the best and the quality is consistent with the paint/body work. The body is essentially pretty solid with no rust holes in the body. The frame is solid as shown in the pictures of the undercarriage. There is a crack at the center portion of the grill. Windshield has a crack on the passenger side as shown in the pictures. The hood and trunk release both work properly. The trunk is in good condition with no rust holes as shown in the picture. Tires hold air with no issues, and the MG rolls easily. The interior is in pretty good condition. At some point, the MG received the common wood dash upgrade which was done quite nicely. If you look carefully at the interior pictures you can see that a custom center console was added as well. The workmanship is pretty impressive. The door panels were redone with custom interior door handles that were hooked up to the cable used to open the door. These interior handles do not work now. The MG retains it's original leather seats which appear to be dyed from red to black. The wood floors are still intact. The engine compartment appears to be completely stock down to the original air cleaner assy's. There is quite a bit of overspray on the bulkhead area, data plaque and heater box. As previously stated, the MG is not running, and I have made no attempt to start it. I was told it was running several years ago, but cannot make any guarantees to the condition of the engine. The MG has a convertible top which is serviceable and also comes with both of the factory side curtains. As stated, the MGA has been stored and unused for many years. It is in non-running condition and will require a mechanical and body restoration to bring it back to it's former glory. I have done my best to describe the MG to the best of my ability, but you should not make any assumptions about the "A". If you aren't sure about something, send me an email and I'll do my best to answer any questions you have or provide any additional pictures that you may request. I am an Alfa Romeo enthusiast, and am not that familiar with MGA's, so once again, if there is something that I may have missed, let me know. The MG is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. The "A" comes with a clear Canadian title. The fine print: If you have 5 or less feedback transactions, you must contact me prior to bidding. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due within 24 hours of the auction end. If the deposit is not received, the MG will be offered to the next highest bidder. The balance is due within 7 days of the auction end date. The car must be picked up within 10 days of the auction end date. A $10.00 per day storage fee will be charged after the 10 days unless prior arrangements have been made. I have sold several vintage cars to overseas buyers with the buyers being extremely pleased with the sale. My 100% feedback rating speaks for itself, so bid with confidence. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. I will consider ending the auction early for the motivated buyer that would like to make a serious offer. I do reserve the right to end the auction early. "NO RESERVE" Auction! On Feb-07-13 at 19:59:47 PST, seller added the following information: There is a problem with the ebay site, and it will not allow me to add additional pictures (undercarriage) to the auction today. I was told it should be resolved by tomorrow (Friday). I can send pictures directly to anyone that would like them. On Feb-08-13 at 16:10:30 PST, seller added the following information:
