THE OVERVIEW Offered for an appreciating new owner is this rare collectible classic 1972 Datsun 240Z Coupe! Finished in white over rare and desireable lipstick red interior, this classic near FORTY YEAR old Datsun is a nice find for the Datsun collector or for someone who wants a clool sunny weather classic Japanese car. The working five-digit odometer reads just about 16,000 and I am told by the previous owner that is 116,000. I cannot 100% verify this. It sports the 150 horsepower 2.4 liter inline six cylinder engine with original carbs and air cleaner mated to the factory 4 speed manual transmission. It features redone front seat upholstery, factory wood [or is it plastic?] steering wheel, working am/fm radio and upgraded 280ZX alloy wheels wih good rubber. I would numerically rate the exterior a 6 on a scale of 1-10. It is a very presentable ten-footer and upon closer inspection you will find many small nicks and some scratches and other blemishes. There is one corrosion spot that has broken through on the driver side rear eend of the rocker panel. Otherwise this car is structurally solid as it sits and/or a great foundation to restore to more show-quality. The chrome is nice and looks original, the wheels are in good condition as well. THE INTERIOR The interior of this classic 240Z is in "QUITE GOOD TO EXCELLENT" condition overall with beautiful and rare red upholstery with excellent original and uncut door panels, working heat and factory choke, nice headliner and dash [a couple of cracks on the top], cool 240Z rubber mats and all working functions [blinkers, lights, etc.]. The rear hatch carpet is tattered [cheap replacements available] and the shock tower quilted vinyl shows some sun fading. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE This 1972 Z car starts and runs fairly well. It is a bit coldblooded typical of a non-injected 40 year old car. The working choke is useful when starting first thing, the engine runs strong with a nice tuned exhaust note though seems to be holding back an the higher rpms. The brakes are excellent with strong pedal feel, the transmission shifts very well and accurately. The suspension is firm yet supple with nice non-assisted handling feel. Driving this car affirms how why these classic Nissans...I mean Datsuns, have remained so popular over the past four plus decades This is still a way cool little car! THE DETAILS AND $$$$$$ 1.
