Up for Auction is my Classic 1979 Volvo Bertone 262c. Only 2,021 of these were assembled in Turin Italy by the Bertone family coach builders for the 1979 production year. If you don’t already know about the Volvo Bertone history, you can read about it by an Internet search under "Volvo Bertone 262c". I have owned this car for the last eight years. To my knowledge, I am the fourth “Title” owner. However, other than me there has been only one other actual “driving” owner, that being the first owner, a lady, who bought the vehicle new in 1979 from the Lubbock Texas Volvo dealer. I am told it was in a fender bender while she had it. When she got too old to drive it, she gave it to her nephew who stored it. He sold it to my Volvo mechanic. I purchased the car in 2005 from my Volvo mechanic who had restored the car to its present condition including a conversion to a 1986 B230 three-speed overdrive engine; removal of the original vinyl top; and a new paint job. My car’s mechanic has worked as a Volvo Master Technician since 1974 and continues to service this Volvo and many others. When I purchased the car it had 85,500 original chassis miles. It now has 103,000 chassis miles. I have invested about $2500.00 in repairs and upgrades. I have averaged 2200 miles per year on this car. I now drive it every other day for pleasure to and from work (approx 12 miles). It is garaged at all times. It is routinely serviced by the same mechanic. I have since purchased a 1981 Bertone 262c from the same mechanic. I have given up some of my garage space so, I don’t presently have room to garage two Bertones. Sadly, I am selling the 1979, which has been a great pleasure to own. All options are in working order on the vehicle. In addition to new belts, hoses and gaskets which were installed immediately prior to my purchase, the following are some of the maintenance and upgrades performed under my ownership: Driver side window motor; Cylinder head and gasket; Bongiovi acoustics stereo from Crutchfield; 840 Volvo rear deck speakers; Heater/Air fan motor; Timing belt; Motor mounts; Alternator; and a Front air dam (not original to a 1979). Except for normal wear and tear, the paint is in like new condition. The interior leather is in fabulous shape compared to the first generation Bertones you typically see for sale. I routinely treat it with Lexol. I am told the vehicle will eventually need new tie rods and rear brake pads. As with all the Italian Volvo Bertones, this one has some minor paint bubbles, which I have tried to picture. As a proud Bertone owner, I have registered my Bertone as item number 486 on the “Dutch” Volvo Bertone World Wide web page (you can see more pictures here, if you click on my name at number 486). NADA Classic Car shows Low Retail at $5325; Average Retail at $7925; and High Retail at $13,400. I have put an appropriate reserve on the Vehicle. Pictures in this listing show the general condition of the car. I did not detail the car prior to taking these pictures—it looks like this all the time (you can ask any of my neighbors or coworkers). I am sure I have left something out. So, please call me or my mechanic with any questions. I will be happy to provide additional pictures or even a sound video of the car. It’s a used car. Failure of the Purchaser to timely pay the $500 cash deposit; or pay the total sale price and pick up the vehicle within the time stated herein will be deemed a material breach of the Agreement which will (a) be deemed an abandonment of any interest or right the Purchaser may have in the vehicle; (b) allow the Seller to keep or resell the vehicle as the Seller’s sole property; and (c) allow the Seller to keep any funds paid by the Purchaser as liquidated damages with no further liability of the Seller to the Purchaser. Purchaser must make their own arrangements for pickup or delivery of the vehicle within the time stated in this Agreement. Purchaser is responsible for all costs of delivery, transportation, sales taxes, title transfer, licensing, and costs or fees to meet any emissions standards or any other regulation or licensing standards of any state. All risk of loss passes to the Purchaser on delivery which shall be when the vehicle is picked up by (a) the Purchaser or (b) the Purchaser’s agent or (c) any common carrier or third party hired by the Purchaser. Purchaser accepts delivery of the vehicle in its present condition at Amarillo Potter County, Texas where venue shall be and where all terms of this Agreement are performable. Texas law will apply to the enforcement of this Agreement and its terms. Time is of the essence. This Agreement contains the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes any and all prior agreements, arrangements, or understandings between the parties relating to the subject matter described herein.
