Vehicle Detail
Please read all information below before bidding: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 First and foremost: The car currently runs, but is in need of repair. I have been told by a local mechanic that the intake manifold is leaking, and estimated the repair would likely cost in the neighborhood of $500-600 (about $100ish in parts and about 5-6 hours of labor). I have driven it short distances over the past month or so and have had no major issues with it, but I would not consider it a safe and reliable mode of transport without getting it fixed first. I am NOT a mechanic and make no warrants or guarantees as to the mechanic's good faith assessment, and/or the car's future performance before and after repair.General information: - Overall, the car looks like it has 200,000 miles on it. There are plenty of little dings and scratches from over the years, but nothing I would consider significant. - There is some rust on the front left quarter panel, front right quarter panel, and left side rear near the fuel door latch. See attached pictures of all three locations. All three are generally localized and have not been prone to spreading. - The interior is in fair condition, with the exception of the driver's side carpet and floor mat, which are pretty beat up, discolored, and crusty (see pic). Most of the discoloration and crusty parts of the carpet are covered up by the floor mat while driving, but I lifted it up so you can see underneath. - There are also some small pieces of plastic that are either chipped or broken off. The most noticeable would be a little piece of plastic that flips up near the driver's side window (see pic). - The middle cup holder is broken off from the elbow rest in the front seat (it wasn't too reliable anyway). There are still two cup holders in the front, one on each door. - The radio works, but the clock and radio station do not display. You will need to rely on your presets and musical intuition. Volume knob is also fickle, especially in the cold (i.e. sometimes the volume turns up when you try to turn it down, etc.). - Front tires have about 1/8" tread left, back tires have about 1/4" tread. - Battery and alternator are relatively new (both replaced in April 2012). - The car eat/drips a small amount of oil adding up to about a quart every 2-3 months or so. It really hasn't been a big deal as long as you check it periodically and put some cardboard down if you park it in a garage. - It is due for an oil change. It has Mobil One Synthetic 0W-30 in it right now, which is supposed to allow for better performance in winter climates, and also has shown to provide better gas mileage (23-24 MPG vs. 20-21 MPG before switching). Switching back to a thicker oil may help with the drips, but I've liked the uptick in gas mileage so have decided not to switch back.Terms & Conditions: Car is being solid "as is". All bids and sales are final and binding. All the information listed here is meant to help you, but is not a replacement for your own research and due diligence. Interested parties are welcome to arrange a time to inspect the vehicle prior to bidding. Given its condition, I will not allow test driving (sorry), but I am happy to start the engine and back it up/forward for you in the driveway to show you it drives.Payment: CASH only. Sorry for any inconvenience. I've read too many check fraud/Paypal scam horror stories to accept anything else. If you are not willing to pay cash, please do not bid. It will save both of us a lot of hassle as I will not sell you the car. Pick-up: Buyer is responsible for making arrangements to pick up the vehicle within 7 days of auction end. Given the condition of the vehicle, I highly recommend the buyer arrange a method of pick up other than driving it home. If you drive it away, it is solely at your own risk. If the winning bidder does not pick up within 7 days I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, and will file a non-payment claim and/or leave negative feedback against the bidder. Questions, please let me know. Happy bidding! On Jan-20-13 at 08:15:40 PST, seller added the following information:Additional Information Added 1-20-13: 1) You might see the tire in the trunk. That is actually a full-size spare tire I received from a friend a few years ago. The actual spare is is underneath the trunk carpet (not pictured). The full-size spare comes free with the car if you want it. 2) I have extensive maintenance/repair records available dating back to 2001 (over 150,000 miles). 3) Car recently passed Illinois air emissions test in July 2012. It is not due for another test until July 2014.
