1964 Mercury Comet 404 2-Door Sedan Purchased in 2003, this Comet is a strong daily driver, handles like a dream, is completely street legal and ready to be finished. I have done all the hard work to keep this car original and mechanically sound, all it needs is light body work, a paint job and interior to be a stock show quality car. There are only 7100 miles on the rebuilt original 260 V-8 engine, the transmission has been rebuilt (twice!), the suspension has been recently done, all the electrical is in good working order, brakes, speedometer, gas gauge and heater work great. Body is straight, all the trim is intact and there is very little wear on the tires. There is some rust in the back quarter panels, there is a tear in the driver seat and the instrument gauge should to be switched out. The grille is a little bent up and the back bumper has a dent where someone in a tiny tin car rear-ended me. I have all the receipts for major work done by the same mechanic in the last 10 years totalling $12,400. Unfortunately, I have run out of money and room for the Comet, so my loss is your gain!
