This Formula Firebird has a 383 Stroker engine. It has a MSD ignition system and MSD distributor installed. The Cam and Crank are racing style. The Holly double pumper w/ mechanical secondaries is a 750 but it has been ported to be a little larger. It has traction bars and a front tire line lock. The button for the line lock is installed on the Hurst T shifter.The 4 speed transmission is mated to 410 gears on the rear end. The paint job is newer but has some scratches on it. Nothing major. It runs fine but there is a slight hesitation when you hit the gas. It really just needs someone to work w/ the carbs and Distributor to get it all working together. Several mechanics have given me several reasons. Some say the carb needs to be bigger. Some say it is all a matter of tinkering with all the components to get them working together. All agree that it is nothing major. The original analog clocks still works!!!> The engine temp gauge does not but there is an aftermarket one installed. Exterior/Interior is in good shape for a car this old but it is not perfect. This is not a show car. It runs good but will run better with someone who has some mechanical skills and the patience to work on it. Brakes on vehicle are drum in read, disk on front end. More about the vehicle. point blank..It needs new tires. They are bald. It has 4 original rims but one is in the trunk since the tire leaks air. So an aftermarket one is shown in the pictures. Because of the cam there is no vacuum so the brakes will need an exterior aftermarket brake booster. Summit has one for $300. The brakes work. But to get more power assist you'll need to install a brake booster. This vehicle will not pass emissons with the way it is set up but antique tags are (hopefully) an option for you. Some counties require the emissions without antique tags. Some do not. I figure I'll just mention it just so you are fully informed. The 410 gears and 4 speed transmission combo is great for neck breaking launches but it will quickly hit a low top speed. In my opinion it would need lower gears. But that is just an opinion. New battery installed about 3 months ago. It pretty much sits in the garage w/ a drip charger on it. The T tops and the trunk seals have been replaced. Speedometer cable is broken ( so I was told, I never confirmed that) so the speedometer is not working. This also means the mileage is not accurate. There are mufflers on the car but they are hollow. It is not obnoxiously loud but it sure is not quiet. The interior is in good shape but it needs some small odds/ends. The heat/cold lever for the climate control is stuck. It most likely just needs to be loosened up with some wd-40. It has seatbelts that work but the little plastic giude that keeps the belts attached to the seats are gone. It also needs the beauty trim peices that go around the windows. Again, it is small stuff and nothing major I am just remodeling the house so my time, effort, energy, and more importantly, money, is going into the house. I could use the room in the garage for the remodeling. I would love to keep the car, but it just is not an option right now and she needs someone to enjoy her more often. In closing, if you want something to drive on weekends and rip around town looking good. This is a good car. It really just needs someone who has more time than I do. I got it from a family member who did most of the work. He has kept it in his garage for 12 yrs. I had it in my garage 2 yrs. So for the last 14 yrs this vehicle has not seen rain. I am selling it locally as well so I may have to pull it off ebay at any given moment. I can deliver up to 150 miles from Nashville for a fee of $100.
