Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this 1990 Mercedes 560 SEL. Big 5.6L V8 engine. I received this car as an extra in a 2 car package. I have no need for it. It will make an easy project restoration or excellent parts car. The car does not start, but it does turn over when i jumpstart the battery. It may need fuel or a fuel pump. The car is complete and in one piece. It looks like just the catalytic converter and exhaust pipes are needed. The interior is in excellent condition. With the exception of the driver's seat tear (see pictures), the seats and leather look like they were never used. The carpeting and panels are all in excellent shape. The wood trim is in great condition as well. One of the console pieces below the stereo/ AC will need to be glued back in place, and a piece of the center console compartment between the seats has broken off. The compartment is still accessible. There also appears to be pink paint that must have been spilled in the tray near the glove compartment (see pictures). Might have been nail polish? It's not terrible and am sure it can be removed with lacquer thinner or acetone. Becker 6- CD changer is in the car. The true issues with this car involve bodywork. The chrome of the front bumper is flaking off and will need to be redone. The front passenger side fender has rust damage below the turn signal. The rear passenger side quarter panel and door are dented pretty badly. The passenger side will need the most attention. The Driver side is looks more solid with no glaring problems such as the passenger side. The hood might need to be readjusted to sit properly over the engine bay, I don't think its sitting right on the one side. Alot of the dirt and grime on the car can be washed off. Paint-wise it is not terrible but not great. there is some fading along the top of the car. If I had to sum it up, I'd say the interior of this car is in excellent condition, and the exterior (in particular the front fender and rear door and panel) will need some bodywork and rust repair. You could also just buy a new door for it. Mechanically, the engine turns over and shouldn't be too hard to straighten out. With some TLC it can be a good road car, or a great parts car. It was last registered on the road for '01-'02. Its service booklet is marked up to the 90k maintenance service. Please ask any questions. I will do my best to answer questions, however I don't know much about this car other than its condition. I'm not familiar/knowledgable with this model. The car is located in Emmaus, PA, 18049. If you would like to take a look at it I will be glad to provide an address. If you are going to have the car shipped the buyer must arrange everything. Please take a look at all pictures! if you would like to see a certain part more clearly I will do my best to take and send more pictures. Thanks and Good Luck!On Jan-06-13 at 13:13:52 PST, seller added the following information: After wiping down the exterior and to answer questions I've received, I made note of a few things:The hood, trunk lid, and roof of car have sap spots on them--this is not bubbling paint. The sap is pretty solid, but looks like a buffing would take them off.The driver side front fender has fading paint on the topIt looks like very minor bubbling is starting on the driver side rear panel, where the black and gray trim meet. The battery is dead, but when jumpstarted electronics worked as well as engine turn-overThe car does have a sun-roof.
