I am offering for auction my 1968 Ford Mustang GT Convertible finished in its original Candy Apple Red exterior and Black standard interior. This beautiful Factory GT Mustang (rare J-Code) is an excellent daily driver / weekender. This is not a show quality car and is not perfect but shows extremely well for a driver. If you are looking for a completely restored, number-matching perfect Mustang, keep looking. This is a Factory GT equipped car, not a clone. Factory GT equipment included larger brakes, heavier suspension, fog lights, dual exhaust with valance cut outs and GT badging. This is not a numbers matching car. Engine is a 1986 Mustang 5.0 HO engine and the transmission is a Borg Warner T10 four speed. Engine is slightly modified with period correct upgrades including Edelbrock Performer Intake and Edelbrock Performer 1406 Carb. Car has some rust underneath on the seat trays and in the wheel wells. The floor pans were replaced 4 years ago and have no rust on them. All sheetmetal is original except the front valance and the right rear fender. All original glass and some original and new chrome. This gorgeous GT convertible runs very strong with plenty of power. Completely rebuilt brakes. The power steering has been rebuilt with new pump, hoses and control valve and works well but still has some 44 year old slop in it. A new steering box will correct that. The four speed transmission is due for a rebuild as third gear has trouble holding. I had planned on rebuilding the transmission this winter. Additionally, the car is missing the convertible top fabric. The power frame is intact and working and just needs the vinyl. Car is available for inspection in suburban Nashville, TN.
