Vehicle Detail
This Rare is a 1986 Long bed Jeep Comanche with a factory 2.1 liter Renault Turbo Diesel. It is 4x4, with a Dana 30 front and factory AMC20 rear with 4.10 gears. IT has the Metric Ton package. Transmission is an Ax5 Manual transmission with a New Process NP207 command track 4wd transfercase. I am the second owner of this truck, and have owned it since it had 101xxx miles on it. It has been a faithful, economical little truck that I have used as a daily hi-way driver for many years. I've averaged about 33 mpg on daily commutes and have gotten as high as 38 mpg on longer freeway driving. This truck is a parts or restoration project. It is running and driving, but needs body and mechanical work done. Do not expect an easy 3 day project. I have all the original paperwork including window sticker from when it was purchased new. The cab and uniframe are solid but the floors and rockers are bad. Box, and front fenders are not good. It was undercoated by Rusty Jones when new so the main frame is still repairable if you have the skills. A complete rust free donor truck would be easier but they are hard to find up here. The brakes need work...I'm sure it needs pads and a spring kit all around. The Engine runs soundly for an older high miles diesel. It does leak oil and does not heat very good when it's real cold but it never did. The clutch, transmission and transfer case work fine with no issues. The rears are original but have no issues and have never been abused. Will probably need front U joints and although I've had no problems with them the ball joints are original. Again this is a project/parts/resto truck. It does run and drive but I would not deem it roadworthy because of the brakes and other such issues. These Renault Diesel Comanche's are about as rare as you can get in a Jeep. We know of possibly as many as 30 in exsistance in the US. This is the only one I know of that also has the metric ton package and AMC 20 rear. This truck is also for sale locally and through other Jeep forums. If you want to speak with me on this truck call 262-716-3368. I will not arrange shipping and it must be picked up here. If you need time to get it picked up I can store it for a while but you must contact me prior to bidding and it must be paid for in full. I do also have most if not all of the original dealership paperwork for this truck, including the delivery form and order window sticker. Good Luck, Phil Here is a link to it running http://s808.photobucket.com/albums/zz10/op1961/?action=view¤t=DieselMJSelling027_zps4d1ced6e.mp4 And a link to more pictures. This auction is only for the truck, not for anything else in the albums. http://s248.photobucket.com/albums/gg191/JeepcoMJ/Diesel%20MJ/
