Vehicle Detail
This is a NO Reserve Auction. My VW can't come to our garage-less house next week. We are moving and I need to sell my completed restored White VW Beetle Karmann Convertible. I had a ground up restoration 10 years ago and spent $12,000. Engine was rebuilt when I got it and has about 20,000 miles on the rebuilt and it is fuel injected. The odometer reads 103,721 miles. I also have the original production certificate from VW that I sent for from Germany 12 years ago. Now the bad news. About 4 years ago a tree limb (Not the whole tree, thankfully) fell on the brand new convertible top and broke the internal wooden frame members. It also slightly damaged the top frame above the windshield but did not break any glass. I intended to re-restore and the estimate was about $1,000 to bring it back. I also bought all new interior panels and a spare muffler which I kept in the garage. This is NOT a flood damaged car, but one that took a modest tree limb hit a few years ago and has been neglected since. The car has been covered the entire time and languished while I focused more of my attention on my 1953 VW oval which I sold two weeks ago. The battery is dead and I haven't started it up in 3 or 4 years but it was strong and reliable. I occasionally took it on the Garden State Highway with the family with the top down and it was running at 60 mph with no problem. I have viewed the damage as an aesthetic issue rather than mechanical or structural and if someone had access to a body shop that would find they have a great deal for themselves. There is not rust on the pans or siderails ( a little on the top of the rails from where some paint chipped off from the impact) and if I had room at our next home I would take it with me, but alas that is not the case. Let me emphasis there has been no flood or water damage to the car. But for the tree limb I would be tooling around in a show car today. Anyway before I move in one week I need to move it to a new home . I sold my last 1953 VW to a Japanese buyer who shipped it overseas. I would like for this one to stay in the U.S. if possible. It needs to ship off my property no later than Saturday, December 15th. Since the battery is dead it needs to be towed. We are moving in one week so the best offer gets it. I know I will not recoup my original $10,000 so make an offer. Our move is your gain. This is really a great car but just got a little neglected in the past few years but otherwise a few buck will get you a real gem. I have included as many pictures as I took a few weeks ago, so hopefully you will see a cool deal. Thanks for looking Check out these recent pictures, blemishes and all, I took last month
