Vehicle Detail
Fiat Spider Please note: I will continue to lower the price of this car until it is sold. It would be a shame to miss such a fine project as this for a few measly bucks. This ad is for a 1979 Fiat Spider, also known as a Spider or Spyder 2000 Pininfarina convertible roadster. This Fiat has four wheel disc brakes and a factory optional automatic transmission. The previous owner went to change the fuel pump and broke off a bolt in the engine block mounting boss. I began to remove the engine to extract the bolt when my priorities were shifted. While the engine was out, it was my intention to replace all the engine gaskets and seals, install a new oil pump, replace the rings, bearings, and timing belt and freshen the cylinder heads. This is essentially considered a engine re-ring job. Additionally I was going to change out the transmission and engine mounts and the universal joint. I believe in doing the job right the first time and all if these components interrelate. I have already purchased all of the parts except rings and bearings as one needs to see what sizes they are before buying. All of the parts and are included in the sale price. I was told by the previous owner that the engine ran well and have no reason to doubt this. The spark plugs looked to be burning correctly. The previous owner also replaced the starter with a new unit. I also intended to rebuild the front suspension while the engine was out of the car and access was readily available. I have new control arm bushings, tie-rod ends, ball joints, and KYB shock absorbers. All of these parts along with an extra engine also come with the car. The car will make a perfect winter restoration project. Additionally, the car will need interior restoration, a new top, and the typical Fiat wiring repairs. The tires on the car still have the factory nubs however, they are checking from sitting and should not be used for driving. The factory wheels that come with the car are aluminum. The price of this car is now at $1,100. The car is located in the dry high desert of southeast Arizona at 85616.
