“MAGNIFICENT / FRAME OFF” 2 OWNER NUT & BOLT RESTORATION {MUST SEE}! *1970 OLDS CUTLASS 442* CONVERTIBLE TRIBUTE MUSCLE CAR! Being an ultra excited classic car enthusiast has led me to appreciate special cars through the years. That being said I am not easily impressed by every vintage car that I come across. Just about every friend that I have who is involved in the hobby thinks that I am a bit to picky when it comes to Muscle cars! That being said they all seem to contact me before they purchase a car {lol}. One very close friend of mine recently called me in an almost frantic state “warning me to go & take a look at what he thought was the most beautiful car that he had ever seen”! Knowing that he understood my taste in cars very well I thought that a trip was warranted to see what all of the squawking was about! I acquired the contact info from my friend and made time to reach out to the seller. When I finally called the owner & received some of the details about the car I became a bit more excited. The gentleman selling the car was basically a collector himself who really was not happy about having to part ways with it. It seems that he had become overwhelmed with a 1932 Ford project car that forced the sell {the proceeds from the Olds sell would help}. At any rate upon arrival I was thoroughly impressed with what I found laying under the car cover! THIS OLDSMOBILE 442 CONVERTIBLE TRIBUTE CAR IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! To start: The car received a frame off restoration approx. 3 years ago. It will not take even the casual observer a millisecond to appreciate the cars overall beauty & quality / condition! If you are the bashful type than you probably want to look elsewhere for a collector car. There’s total hysteria exhibited each and every time that this beauty leaves the garage! People at each and every turn just seem to fall in love with this vintage Olds! The paint itself is beyond breath taking! The brilliant blue exterior simply gleams in the sun! If you have been waiting to purchase a nice A-body that will win shows….then look no further! The cars original paint color code is 45/A However it was changed to the incredible shade of blue that you now see {great choice}! This color was coined from the factory as Twilight Blue Poly {28 Code}. It is Ultra Rare in its true essence and a favorite among Olds collectors! There is no doubt that the base clear method was used to complete the task. The car just has to be seen in person to truly be appreciated. I feel confident in saying that there literally had to be thousands of man hours invested to get the car to the condition that it is in today! The stripes where also laid correctly {being painted on} there’s not a single line out of place! The body on this Cutlass also compliments the paint wonderfully! There are no wavy panels to be found & the body contour is above reproach! From every angle the car seems to come together nicely. The car looks better in person than it does in pictures! You will have no trouble at all taking trophies home at your local car show! All of the chrome is in excellent condition & the surrounding glass is in phenomenal shape! The weather stripping is new & in top notch condition as well. The stainless trim & exterior pillar post on this car simply looks amazing! This Olds presents the perfect picture on many levels. This 442 Tribute wears its badges proudly! All of the exterior emblems look great on the car! Let’s take a look inside! The interior gets a gold star when it comes to quality & comfort also! It is truly immaculate & must be seen to be appreciated! The white leather seats that you find inside are not only gorgeous they have been fully restored and reupholstered! The restoration was done right & at a high level. The seat foam & padding inside was replaced along with the custom buttons. Comfortable, beautiful / picture perfect! The rear upholstery is nothing short of amazing either. The back seat looks as if it was never used. The deluxe door panels that you will find inside are in phenomenal condition. These panels aren’t dingy or tired looking. When the restoration was done there was no expense sparred making sure that the interiors quality match the outside. Let’s take a look up front again: When sitting in the cockpit of this cruiser you will be surrounded by exceptional factory wood appliqué appointments. The wood on the dash, deluxe door panels {front & rear} & console have been well preserved! All interior emblems along with the brushed aluminum heater control bezel are in fantastic shape! The factory dash pad is in exceptional condition. It doesn’t have any imperfections that can be spoken of. The dash encompasses crystal clear gauges {all working}, original heater vents and an OEM Olds radio that is in excellent shape {adds just the right touch}! The console shifter doesn’t get hung up like most. It was completely disassembled cleaned & reinstalled. The Olds throw back wooden knob feels like art work in your hands & screams 1970! To further enhance this wonderful cars interior a set of high quality Olds embossed floor mats have been added. They beautifully adorn the carpet which is also new! There was an article written by an editor in Hemmings Muscle Machines that expounded on how important a nice steering wheel is to a classic cars overall appearance. No worries here! This GM product has a factory mint wheel that the previous owner actually sent out to be restored. The goal was perfection from the on start with this car. A reproduction or aftermarket wheel was out of the question for him! The sun visors, header bow & interior pillar post are in pristine condition! There is much more that could be said about this cars interior. However, I hope that the point being made is clear “She looks just as good inside as she does out”! Now that you have had a chance to get a feel for what may be in store for the potential new lucky owner lets talk about driving this peach! Upon cracking the lid of this Cutlass you will find an incredibly strong factory casting # 395558 Olds 350 rocket cradled in between the firewalls! The block still packs a mean punch and there’s no ambiguity involved when you hit the freeway “you’re driving a muscle car”! Dependability is at an optimum level thanks in part to a new alternator, starter, plugs , wires, cap, rotor, radiator, hoses, belts, water pump, mater cylinder, air cleaner, brake booster, thermostat and too much more to list! As you survey the landscape under the hood you will also find a new Performer 350 OLDS intake matted to a fairly new Holley carburetor! You can hold your head high whether you’re at the local show or you decide to have a little stop light fun! This Classic Olds is fun on every level! Although the car has good power it’s not a back breaking torque monster! There’s raw power there however you can simply cruise this car. It’s not over the top. You won’t feel a big block punch unless you really provoke her. This is the way that a true classic of this caliber should be. This is a classic car that can be enjoyed on a formal night out with the misses. I have done this! Try taking your ole lady out to an upscale event and let the valet attendants park this car along with the $80K Beemers & Benz cars. This idea & a nice dinner may even help you bribe her into allowing to buy it {lol}! At any rate compliments will be ever present! The car will be well respected! It will certainly garner much more attention & admiration than those European cars! You actually slip into this car {like a nice robe}! It plays several roles on many different levels. Back to the listing: The transmission has been completely rebuilt & it functions perfectly. This car just seems to float at 70 mph! Power steering & power disc brakes takes the phrase “easy to operate” to a new level! The car handles extremely well & easily cuts through traffic. This car sports the iconic Cutlass Ralley mag wheels that are in excellent condition! The wheels quickly help spread the news to the on coming public that a true Muscle Car legend is on the prowl! The raised white letter performance tires at all four corners are in great shape also! The car has a healthy tone to it thanks in part to the dual exhaust system. A good set of performance mufflers keeps this Olds singing a sweet note! Inside the trunk you will find a full spare with an original style bumper jack. The trunk is very rock solid & rust free! This Olds is for the Cutlass fan who desires the absolute best! Hopefully this listing has given the serious potential new owner some insight to what he or she could possibly be in store for provided they win the auction. The restoration completed on this Olds is top notch! A car restored to this caliber should have a nice underbody to match. However I have seen many nicely restored vehicles with a rusty frame. It’s hard to believe someone would actually invest thousands of dollars & time only to stop before the finish line. What I mean is that they tend to neglect what lies underneath. Let me take the time out to personally address this cars magnificent structure! From front to rear you will find that this 1970 Olds is rock solid & rust free! The rockers, trunk, floors & quarters need to be seen to truly be appreciated. This 1970 Olds is a great investment that can be enjoyed immensely through the years! I have a very fair price in mind for what caliber vintage vehicle that this one is. Look at the others than come and see this one! You won’t be disappointed! Car cover, factory manual, etc included. Don’t miss out on this one. Most of my auctions end early. Serious buyers feel free to call 314-497-9470.
