Vehicle Detail
September 1975, Jaguar introduced a completely new and radically different two door sports coupe'. A step away from the XKE from the 1960's, the XJ-S was introduced as a high performance luxury 4 place Grand Touring Coupe' to compete with the Aston Martin V8 Coupe', the Mercedes-Benz SL and the Porsche 928. Through the 70's and 80's the XJ-S carried Jaguar's prestigious V12 engine at the front, although a fantastic driving car, the V12 was never known for its reliability. By the 1990's Jaguar had introduced the AJ6 4.0 liter straight 6 engine to the XJS line up that proved to be bullet proof for Jaguar which dated back to the 1940's. For model year 1995 and 1996 Jaguar introduced a new and improved version of their 6 cylinder engine in the XJS, an all aluminum 4.0 litre DOHC straight six engine now producing 238hp to the rear wheels. The last two years of the XJS line was by far the best, with thousands of improvements both cosmetically and mechanically these were the cars to own. This is an exquisite three owner Mica Flamenco Red Metallic on beautiful original Cream Connolly leather with contrasting coffee brown dash and carpets. This XJS left the Coventry Browns Lane factory in August of 1994 and invoiced to Jaguar North America that same month. The car was then sent to Jaguar of Oklahoma City where it sold to the first owner in December of 1995 at a sticker price of $61,550. By the late 1990's the second owner brought the car to AZ where it has been ever since and has absolutely no rust or corrosion any where. Never smoked in. This 3 owner meticulously maintained XJS has traveled only 76,150 original box A miles, clean title, never wrecked or salvaged. The car has all the original owners manuals, warranty booklets, 3 original Jaguar cut keys including the master Jaguar key with flashlight and two remotes and a vallet key with the codes, the spare tire, tool kit and jack. Has the leather boot and its bag all in excellent condition. All of the power equipment work and operate as they should including the windows, power door locks, mirrors, full power insulated canvas soft top (soft top is original and does show some wear on the lower corners of the glass window, NOT TORN at all just a little fraying), power driver and passenger seats, with two position memory, heated driver and passenger seats and power lumbar. Jaguar factory alarm system with keyless entry remote. Both heated seats are working perfectly, the memory seats all function correctly, as do the power lumbar. The car does have the optional Warm Weather Package which includes the heated seats and the heated headlight washers. The car comes with a premium factory Alpine sound and a working power antenna. The paint is absolutely gorgeous, still has a stunning shine to it with almost no flaws, a few tiny stone chips in the front bumper and one small hairline crack in the lower air skirt dam that is so hard to tell you have to get on your hands and knees to see it. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, the leather shows almost no wear or stress cracks, the carpets are perfect without any stains, the wood is gorgeous without any cracks in the finish and still has a beautiful dark red brown color. All of the trim, the chrome and bright work look outstanding without any damage or cracks. The 16" 5 spoke Diamond Turned Jaguar Sport wheels show very little curb rash and still have a gorgeous shiny finish. The A/C blows ice cold and works on all the fan speeds with the temperature control, the compressor and condenser was just recently replaced at Jaguar. The car has a new oil cooler, new hoses, newer belts, new front shocks, springs and bushings and newer tires. All of the electrics in the car are functioning properly, brake lights, tail lights, headlights, interior lights including the sun visor lights, turn signals, side marker lights, reverse lights and license plate lights all work. Soft top works perfectly and the rear windows go up and down with the top like it should. The brakes have over 50% front and rear pad life left. The automatic transmission shifts perfectly, runs through the gears so smoothly and has the sport mode which will change the shifting patterns. All the gauges work and read correctly. This XJS runs and drives perfectly, shifts smoothly, and feels so solid and tight. There are no dash lights on. The steering feels incredible, no pulls or vibrations and the suspension feels excellent and tight without any rattles or creaks. The body is so solid and straight, two tiny door dings and one tiny rock chip on the drivers door and one tiny rock chip and door ding on the passenger door. These make excellent top down luxury motoring cars and with the weather starting to cool down do not miss out on one of the greatest luxury touring cars ever made. The XJS shares DNA with the Jaguar E-Type one of the greatest cars ever made. Few of life's possessions can match the emotional surge when you take the wheel of a Jaguar. Decade after decade, while this fad and that trend transfixed the rest of the automobile world, Jaguar has stayed true to its roots. A Jaguar is an emotional statement, metal and leather, wood and rubber, glass and steel molded into and emotional statement, suavely expressed about driving as an art, a pleasure and a reward.
