Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL -- the gold color looks great on this car. I drove this car almost daily over the summer and had no problems whatsoever with it. I believe it to be very sound mechanically. It runs and drives great with less than 114,000 miles on it. The previous owners put a great deal of time and effort into maintaining this car. I have receipts and itemized expenses totaling over $16,000 for it from before I owned it. The list is lengthy: New muffler, catalytic converter, intake manifold gasket, fuel pressure regulator, accumulator, fuel distributor, fuel filter, starter, cap, rotor, A/C compressor, water pump, thermostat, temp sensor, power steering belts, alternator, alternator belt, A/C belt, smog pump, coil, stabilizer bar, idler arm, shocks, ball joints, steering gear, transmission front pump seal, rear cover seal, tie rods, replaced master cylinder, front brake pads, rotors, calipers and hoses. Additionally, the window regulator and hard top and front window pillar seals replaced as well as the monovalve. A Pioneer CD player and new Alpine speakers have been installed, but this also includes an original Becker radio if you prefer to install that. Since I have owned it, I have had new Michelin tires installed, a new radiator installed, brake lines flushed and remote keyless entry installed. I am also including a hard top storage stand & cover and a cover for the passenger area for when the top is down. The carpet/seat covers that are in the car show signs of wear in some areas but are quite acceptable for a daily driver. I purchased this car with the intention of replacing the seat covers and carpeting in the car and trunk but my situation has changed and I need to give up my plans. Fortunately, for the buyer of this car, I had already purchased the full carpeting set (trunk & interior) and leather seat covers in the correct Brazil (brown) color from ebay seller: autoseatsandtops at an expense of over $1000. These are included so you just need to have an upholsterer install them and it will look like new inside. I believe that the soft top is original and it looks quite good. The windows are very clear with good visibility -- the stitching is still in good shape, although you can see where one of the straps in the headliner area needs to be secured again. It tucks neatly into place and is not noticeable. There is a small crack in the bottom right corner of the hardtop glass -- I was told that it did not affect the functionality of the rear window defroster but I did not have an opportunity to test it.
