As stated by the Chief Designer of Lotus at the time: The process of building an Esprit is truly a work of art. Unlike other modern factories where cars are manufactured mostly through the aid of automation and robotics; the Esprit is still built completely by hand. This ensures that each vehicle built is truly unique and perfect when it leaves the factory. The Esprit production line was established back in 1976. Nothing has changed much since those days a quarter of a century ago. Currently there are only 21 people on the line. Each car takes about 584 man-hours to assemble. With multiple people working on the car, total assembly is accomplished in about one week. One car is rolled out of the assembly line every business day. Upon completion, each vehicle is driven on the test track. After the test drive, the car is put on a lift and thoroughly inspected and adjusted. Afterwards, the car is test driven a second time to verify everything is perfect. The Lotus Esprit is an iconic design, a classic blend of traditional supercar razor sharp edges combined with design elements that have evolved over three decades. Therefore we decided not to change the car dramatically for 2002 as this would be changing the true spirit of the Esprit, a classic supercar. The redesigned rear panel and light cluster, which features round rear lights set in pairs, carry over some of the new Elise design elements. The front of the Esprit has inherited the lip spoiler from the legendary Sport 350 ensuring greater stability at very high speeds. This car is one of the most rare of all Lotus Esprits ever produced. It is #095 of 100 cars produced in 2002. Car has a build date of 08/02. It is believed to be the last of only 7 flagship yellow Esprits produced in 2002. For the money, this has to be one of the most ultimate, exclusive, and reliable sports cars in the world. In fact, when talking “bang for the buck”, this car is virtually impossible to beat! Not to mention, its value is now increasing since the car has been discontinued and there is no replacement in sight. This exotic is an impeccable example of a car destined to be a true collector. Chances are you will NOT find another car like this. The interior and exterior are in excellent condition. The car has never been in any type of accident and all the paint is original and in beautiful condition (the paint color is the factory flagship color that is on all the emblems for all Lotus cars and it is the color on the original brochure which comes with the car). I have owned this car for approximately ½ its life and ½ its mileage. It took me several years to find this particular car. And, when I did, I paid a premium. Although this is my second Esprit, it is by far the cleanest and best example of an Esprit that I have ever seen (including at all car shows, for which this car has won several awards and trophies). The car also has an impeccable Carfax and Autocheck score, and I have become close friends with the prior owner who was a Lotus Car Club of America member and avid exotic car collector. I have owned the car for about 5 years and I am very hesitant about selling this pristine example of automotive excellence. However, my wife and I just had baby #3, and this baby has to go! I am NOT a dealer, and to my knowledge this car has only been maintained by qualified and certified Lotus mechanics. I have all service records since the car was new, including all recent A & B services up through 30,000 miles. You have to see it in person. It almost brought tears of joy to my eyes the first time I saw it because it is so beautiful. · The color seems to magically change in different lighting conditions. I have tried to take pictures in sunny, cloudy and overcast conditions. · Matching yellow piping on the seats really set the car off. Maintenance · A and B services have been performed at or before suggested mileage (professionally done by authorized Lotus mechanic – have all records) · Mobil 1 Synthetic used every 1000 miles since new GET READY! Over the last 25 years that I have been driving sports cars, I have owned several performance automobiles including, but not limited to, Audi, BMW, Lotus, Maserati, Porsche and Mercedes/AMG. All of these cars were great in their own right. Yet, I have NEVER been in, let alone OWNED, a car that has received so much positive attention from people of all ages. When I tell them that it is a 2002, nobody can believe it! Although the car is available for inspection prior to the close of the auction, I also intend to advertise and reserve the right to sell the car locally. Given the overwhelming attention and interest this car has drawn from the local car community, I do not expect it to be on the market for very long.
