Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Hello,Up for sale is my 1994 Saab 900S convertible. I was planning to wait until the spring to sell it, but my wife would like it to go on to its new home. This was the last year of the first-generation 900, as in ’94 the coupe and sedan had already gone to the new GM design. It has just over 151k on the odometer, which averages to about 8k a year. It’s in very good condition, especially in comparison to other 900s I've seen advertised, and the purchase price doesn't approach the money that has been invested in it. Please read on for a detailed explanation. Body As shown in the photos, the car is in very good shape, and is completely rust free. Until recently it lived in Kentucky and Indiana. It has only been in Ithaca for 3 months, where it has never seen winter. I re-sprayed the hood, deck lid, and quarter panels last summer to take care of some scratches, etc., and the rest of the paint is original. I have a set of used, good condition plastic wheel arch trim that comes with the car. (I left them off so buyers could see that they’re not covering rust.) The doors are rust free. The newer German canvas top is in fine shape, and it operates electrically as it should. Please see the photo of a small repair where the corner of the rear window separated from the canvas. All glass is in good shape; no chips in the windshield. The car had a minor accident before I bought it. I don't know the details, and after inspecting and driving the car I wasn't at all concerned. Underneath All front suspension parts have been updated. The steering is precise and it tracks straight. There is a small bit of rust (maybe 2”x3”) under the trunk and surface rust beginning in one wheel well. Other than that, it's completely rust free. Nothing structural; the frame, etc., is in excellent shape. New rear springs took care of the typical saggy Saab rear end. The car is sitting on a set of pristine SPG wheels and nearly new Continental ProContact tires. Mechanical The car runs VERY well. It has new tune-up parts, and it was a joy to drive it to NY from Indiana. The manual transmission shifts well, and it’s filled with Redline synthetic gearbox oil. The clutch was replaced about six years ago. It has a new turbo exhaust system and it sounds great. Overall, too many new parts to list. Electrical Everything works except cruise control and a/c. Interior The interior is in above-average shape. ALL of the dash lights were replaced last year, and it has a nice aftermarket stereo and new Sony rear speakers. I moved the stereo to the lower console and installed a cupholder in its place. The shift boot was re-dyed and the door upholstery was replaced with quality black fabric. The original leather front seats have seen better days, so I recently replaced them with nice seats from a ’97 9000. My plan was to dye them to match. I do have the original seats, but, as mentioned, the leather is in pretty bad shape. The rear seat is original and in decent shape. The dash is cracked and faded, but it's covered by a nice dash mat that matches the door upholstery. Known Issues There is a sporadic fault in the ABS system. When it acts up the brakes still work, but there is no power assist and the brake warning lights come on. This happens, then the pump mysteriously starts working and everything is fine. My Saab mechanic did a basic test, and there seems to be some sort of issue in the power supply to the ABS pump. As I was already planning to sell the car, I chose not to invest more time in trouble-shooting the issue. Summary The car’s only known issues are listed above; other than that, it’s safe, solid, and a great driver with a lot of life left in it. Please don’t hesitate to e-mail if you have any questions, and feel free to come and inspect it.
