Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This 1967 Mercedes-Benz 300SE Cabriolet, VIN# 11202312009259, is a 2-owner car and was purchased by my godfather 41 years ago in 1971 from Mercedes-Benz of Los Angeles on La Cienega Boulevard. The car is finished in what I believe is the best color combination for this model, Black exterior with a Red interior and Tan convertible top. With 1967 being the last year, this car has all of the improvements and refinements developed for the 300SE model during its six years of production. Also, with just 253 built in 1967 and only 708 Cabriolets 300SE’s built from 1962 to1967, fewer than the later 3.5L, the 300SE should continue to be a great investment. A recent Sports Car Market Report article stated the, "Marque expert and fellow SCM contributor Alex Dearborn contends that a properly set up 300SE is a nicer car to drive, with more power than the six-cylinder 280SE, and a better suspension with less weight on the front wheels than the 3.5." As a top-of the-line model for Mercedes-Benz during the 60's, the 300SE was one of the most expensive and luxurious models offered. Options unique to the 300SE were the following: fuel injected aluminum M189 big-block six-cylinder engine, four wheel disc brakes, air-suspension, more expensive wood trim, exterior styling featuring chrome body accents.... The 300SE model proved itself to be a very dependable, competing successfully in the 1960 and 1964 Monte Carlo Rally. Most recently, in 2002, a 300SE coupe won its class at the La Carerra Panamericana. Article at: MercedesArticle Cosmetically, the car shows very well. The panel fit is very good, with no signs of any accident history. The car was repainted in its original black color around ten years ago and still shows nicely. I have tried to show the excellent panel fit in the photos. The fit of the underside structure of the hood and inside the left and right fenders is very straight and very original. The original chrome also looks great, with the front grill in perfect condition. Mechanically, the car is very good. Most recently I had a new Bosch, long-body, fuel pump installed. The fan housing also received new German seals. The car also benefited from a $11,875 major service very few miles ago in the end of 2008. At this time, new airbag bellows and valves were installed in the suspension. Additionally, new v-belts, brake hoses, rotors, pads, steering dampener, drive flange, and voltage regulator were installed. The transmission and air conditioning were also serviced. Inside, the interior is mostly original, with original door paneling, dash, carpet and rear seat leather upholstery still in very presentable condition. The car also has its original Becker radio. This car was optioned new from the dealer with air conditioning, which is in working order. A new, original style, tan convertible top was fitted in 2009 and looks like new. Local inspections are welcome by appointment. This car is located in Burlingame, California. To schedule an inspection or for more information I can be reached by phone at: (650) 483-656(seven).
