Vehicle Detail

We've had this truck for about a year. It's a '79 v8 302 f250 supercab 4 speed manual transmission, 4x4 with manual locking hubs. Power steering, power brakes. A previous owner did a bunch of work to it - aftermarket headers with dual exhausts, k&n 4 barrel (I think) carb, 3" lift, aftermarket sunroof (which leaks) stuff like that. It's run well up until 2 weeks ago, when it threw a rod (I believe). It will still crank, and I pulled the plugs to find that it's got antifreeze in one cylinder, and it looks like something like a valve or rod or piston was scraping on or beating up the bottom of the spark plug in another cylinder. I just had some new fuel line put in, did front brakes and calipers, replaced some exhaust pipe, replaced the air filter, adjusted the clutch, and bought new flowmaster headers ($200), which I didn't even get to have installed yet. The body has pretty bad rust, as you can see from the pics but it did just pass new york state inspection in August. The frame is actually fairly solid, though it does have rust on it. No tailgate. It's a heavy duty truck that is listed as a 3/4 ton payload, but is way overbuilt and could probably carry a lot more. We were on the fence about replacing the block, since we've put a decent amount of money into it over the last year, but we've decided to cut our losses. Everything else in it is good. Strong battery, starter, distributor, radiator, alternator, transmission, transfer case. Belts and hoses are all good. The tires are all pretty worn out, but it does come with 2 additional old style steel wheels and tires, as spares. You can see it's got the fancy chrome ones on there. We'd hate to see this great truck go to scrap. Someone with a little more time and know-how than I've got can make this truck great. Scrap value around here is $475, and it's easily got that much in parts in it, if you want to part it out. Sad to do, but if you want to buy it, that's your call. Buyer arranges transport, as it definitely doesn't drive. Mileage reads 58636, which almost certainly means 158636, but I don't know that for sure. All the gauges work, except for the gas gauge, and a previous owner installed a tachometer. Headlights also work, but not the dashboard lights.
