Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my beloved 1971 Karmann Ghia. I purchased this car over a year ago and have spent blood, sweat and tears restoring it. The car is in brand new condition! View video at: http://youtu.be/nrAVqBDLgtU and at: http://youtu.be/uprTXk4TBXE Mechanical: This car has the original 1.6 liter dual port boxer engine and 4 speed manual. It runs perfectly and cranks everytime no matter what. It is extremely reliable. It was rebuilt 8,000 miles ago. It has new spark plugs and wires, points and condensor, drive belt and many since the rebuild. There is nothing to be done mechanically at all. It has new heater boxes and blows very hot air! The car cranks right up, shifter perfectly, does not miss, does not stall and can be driven anywhere. I just drove it to a car show from Louisiana to Tennessee-1000 miles round trip with absolutely no problem and 36 miles to the gallon. It has brand new tires. Body: I had the car repainted in 2012 Porcshe platinum silver metallic 6 months ago during the restore. All windows were removed for painting and EVERY rubber seal, from each and every window, door, trunk, hood (EVERY RUBBER SEAL) on the car has been replaced with GERMAN rubber. It has a high end with absolutely no orange peal paint job. The floor pans have been coated top and bottom. I used the highest end sound deadening material inside the entire car. It has the original bumpers with the EURO overides. I do have all of the original overides and "towel racks", but they do need rechroming. I opted for the EURO look. It also has new german hup caps and beauty rings. All of the chrome has been refinished on the body, as well as, the aluminum trim around the windows. Interior: The entire inside has been redone. New padding and carpet. New padding on seats, New palisander (brown) interior, New dash pad top and under, new wood facing on dash, entire new set of knobs for entire car, New steering wheel, New glove box inside, New door panels. The entire inside of the car is like brand new. The original horn works, every light, including the interior light works, it has a brand new Sony cd player with aux, bluetooth and new speakers. The heater, windshield wipers, hazards, blinkers, high beam, low beam, idiot lights and all work perfectly. New seat belts. This car is absolutely perfect in everyway and no dime was spared. I hate to sell it, but I am building a new house and will be using the money to buy new furniture for my home. This car can be driven anywhere, however, it is in perfect condition and you may want to transport it to avoid rock chips or such. The only thing i did not do original is the exterior color. I opted for the Porsche Platinum Silver Metallic, because i thought it was classy and it looked really nice with the brown interior. If you have any questions, please let me know. This car has been completed from top to bottom and there is nothing you will have to do except drive it. This car can be used as a show car and attended many shows with it.On Nov-07-12 at 16:45:27 PST, seller added the following information: At the request of several ebayers interested in my car, I have completed a new video that is close up and slower so that the car can be viewed better. View video at: http://youtu.be/7HU8geUFjts On Nov-09-12 at 08:15:19 PST, seller added the following information: At the request of several ebayers: The paint job cost 4000.00. it is perfectly smooth. all door jams, inside, under hood/trunk, engine bay was painted professionally. Every window was taken out, including side quarter windows and all german rubbers where replaced. also rechromed the peices that go around those windows. The old man i purchased it from lived in Corinth Mississippi and the car spent most of its life in Memphis Tennessee. The guy owned several old vw, ghias, buses and beetles. He was a retired airplane mechanic and loved VW's. He had redone the engine top to bottom, including the heater boxes. The engine is perfect. The following were replaced:every emblem, trim piece (chrome stips on side of car, chrome around windows and window scrapers, chrome overides for bumpers)every rubber around the doors, hood and trunk replacedthe felt stips on the doors (that buffer the window when rolled up/down)check staps that hold doors opensteering wheel/vw emblem on steering wheelwood dash facingdash top and bottomfloor pans treated and coateddynamat (400.00) worth lined in the entire inside of car for sound deadingall new carpet, padding, seat padding, seat upholstery and door panels, window cranks, aluminim skid plates replacednew knobs on entire dash, new sony radio/speakers, new leather shift knobnew glove box insertnew vw beaty rings/hub capsnew batterynew tiresnew heater boxesnew knobs on heater levers/defrost leveri even replaced the latch that holds the rear searback up for storage access just becaus it had a scratch on it.every light has a new rubber seal around itreplaced the aluminum grill inserts on front of car and the rubbers around them The only thing i did not do to this car was rechrome the original style bumber overides and towel racks, because i wanted the euro look. So, i purchased the new euro chrom overides that you see on the bumbers for the clean euro look. I hope this helps everyone. I like to be honest and not waist anyones time and this car is likely the most beautiful ghia on the road and definetly the best on ebay. I took a lot of pride in restoring her and will miss her and all of the attention i get with her, but ive had my fun and would like to spend the money on new furniture for my new house. Thanks for looking, CalvinOn Nov-09-12 at 08:18:53 PST, seller added the following information: One more thing. I also replaced the tire preasure sticker in the glove box, the 12 volt sticker in the driver door jam and the valve clearance sticher under the engine bay if that says how maticulous i was.
