Alfa Romeo Spider 1973 Green Roadster Very Nice Driver in Green Clear Title Up for sale is my friend's 1973 Alfa Romeo Spider. He asked me to sell it for him, as an experienced eBay Seller (see my Feedback). I am also an "Alfa Guy", with three 1960s cars...two Spiders and a GT1300 Junior. I have spent several weeks with the car and driven it 300+ miles. It is a nice "driver". It starts up right away, even after sitting for a month. No smoke, no second gear crunch or other transmission issues. The two liter motor pulls nicely all the way up to the redline. The current owner has had it for 5 years, but does not have any paperwork on repairs done prior. A compression check shows 160+ pounds on all 4 cylinders. So the motor and gearbox were likely rebuilt relatively recently. It "tracks" nice and straight, with no pulling one way or the other. It has Michelin Pilot radials in 195/60 X 14 size, with well over 50% of the tread remaining. Mounted on the later Cromodora style Alfa Romeo 5 spoke alloy wheels. All the wheels are in excellent shape with no road rash. An Alpine Stereo / CD player has been installed in the dash, with some large speakers behind the seats. It has a padded roll bar, and a recently installed full ANSA exhaust system. Here is a list of items replaced within the last 2000 miles (with receipts): shocks, springs, flex disc, ball joints, tie rod ends, adjustable upper control arms, front brake hoses, clutch slave cylinder. Plus it has had an alignment. Now the not so good: It has some rust in the rocker panels, the worst is on the drivers side at the front of the rocker (can be seen in my last photo). The 4 jack points are all solid. There is also a minor bit of rust on the rear panel, at the license plate light. Underneath there are about 4 small rust spot areas, running from an inch or two, up to about three inches in length. Mostly behind the seats. The seats, now covered in sheepskins, are torn and will require new upholstery. The upper dash has two cracks, around the circular vents. The gas gauge works when full, then quits working when it gets close to half full. The oil pressure gauge does not work. A wire was likely pulled off when the above mentioned Alpine stereo was installed. The car is located in Carmel near Monterey CA. I am happy to show it to any buyers who may be interested.
