You are bidding on a 1956 Matchless G80CS Competition Single, made in England. I have read a lot about this model in the AJS and MATCHLESS Buyers Guide by Martin Redman. Engine Number 56/ G80 2519 CS( S is a little faint on case due to age), Frame Number 69843 0136, Gearbox Number B61. The scrambles model introduced for the 1956 season featured new all alloy short stroke engines and were built in both 348cc and 497cc forms. The pushrod tunnels were cast within the head and barrel, there were forged stell flywheels with pressed-in mainshafts, the crankpin was stronger and there was a single row of caged rollers. The bike has the following, Lucas SR1 magneto, 21 inch front wheel, dual sparkplug head and HS Cams. This bike will require restoration with parts available from ebay, swapmeets and AJS and Matchless parts suppliers from USA, England and other countries including New Zealand and Austrailia, who having been purchased the British Bikes new, have new parts and NOS parts.
