Vehicle Detail

Relisting with a much lower reserve.1972 Torino Sport Fastback, loaded with desirable factory options like: Q code 351CJ, C6 automatic, 3.50 gears, laser stripe, power steering, power disc brakes, rimblow steering wheel, AM/FM, bucket seats with console, tinted glass and desirable rally equipment group which includes the sport suspension package and gauge package with factory tach. Odometer reads 69,262 and it appears to be original mileage. It has been a Washington State car all its life and was garaged most of the time. I am told I am the third owner but I have no documentation. I know the previous owner had it for 20 years or so. I am told it is matching # but I can’t see the #’s on the back of the block, the wiper motor is in the way. Car obviously needs paint. The body is overall very good with very little rust. The floors, frame rails and trunk floor are all very solid. Doors open and close beautifully with no sag. There is some typical rust starting in the lower door corners. There is also some very minor rust starting behind the rear wheels. There is one dent in the front fender, one in the quarter where it meets the valance and a small one on the trunk lid. Rear valance also is bent a bit but fixable. 4 holes in the trunklid from a spoiler but both are easy fixes, I removed the spoiler because it just didn’t look right on a 72. Front bumper looks like is has been pushed in just a tad in the center, not real noticeable but if you are going to paint it you will want to have both bumpers chromed anyway. Rear bumper is straight but chrome is not perfect. The Magnums are original (not cheap repops) and in very nice shape with nearly new 245/60 tires. Interior is original except for carpet and is very presentable. Dash pad is very nice with no cracks. Seats have some wear but are fine for a driver. Gauge cluster looks very nice as does the console. Door panels have some wear and the passenger side is missing the factory speaker grill. Headliner has a few holes near the back window but the rest looks good. Engine runs strong with no smoke or knocks. It does have a slight lifter tick which is very typical for a 351C. It has an Edelbrock intake and Holley carb but is otherwise stock. Transmission was rebuilt about 3k miles ago and easily barks the tires into 2nd gear. It could probably use a carb rebuild but it is very drivable as is. Car drives and stops very straight and handles very flat in the corners. Steering is tight and the car drives very nice. Everything works except for the left brake light/turn signal which I have diagnosed as a bad turn signal switch. I bought a new one and it goes with the car but I have not had a chance to install it. Everything else works including the wipers, heater, gauges, rimblow wheel, interior lights, map lights and even the factory AM/FM! I have always had 70/71 Torino’s and I have to admit that this 72 drives much nicer and I will be sorry to see it go. The only reason I am selling is I am out of storage space and I don’t want this car to sit out in the weather all winter. All in all this is a a very desirable combination of options and would be a fantastic car to drive or finish. If you are reading this ad you know what these cars are bringing these days and most are not this well optioned or this original. Here is your chance to get a good one before the prices go even higher. Car is for sale as is where is. It is available for inspection by appointment. No warranty expressed or implied. I have done my best to describe the car but please understand that it is 40 years old and needs some restoration work. $500 deposit due within 2 days of auction end, full payment within 7 days of auction end. Vehicle must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements have been made. Bidder with less than 10 feedback must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid. This car is not for sale locally at this time and I plan to let the auction run its course. Shipping arrangements and charges are the responsibility of buyer and vehicle must be picked up from its current location. International buyers welcome.
