Bus History: 2nd owner purchased bus in Arizona in 1971 and drove it until approximately 12 to 14 years ago. The bus sat outside until my brother purchased it for me as birthday present and had it shipped to Austin in late 2011. Minimal exterior body rust (surface) with two areas with substantial rust (beneath brake and battery). 4 month refurbishment project turned into 11-months with work completed in Sept. 2012. Summary of work completed: Re-built 1835cc engine (e.g., new dual carbs, cylinder heads, rod bearings, electronic ignition, etc.). Overhauled transmission completed with new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, etc. New brakes: master cylinder, brake shoes, wheel cylinders. New shocks, tires, CV boots and drag link. All seats/benches re-upholstered with new door, kick panels and headliner. New window/windshield, door and engine seals. Interior/exterior repaired, primed and painted. Original radio still in bus but is inoperable. Mechanic that tuned the bus in Sept 2012 recommends to change master cylinder to non power assist system to improve the brake performance.
