Vehicle Detail
About as original as they come, this 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car was the epitome of luxury motoring in its day, and it still commands respect and admiring glances in 2012. Use it as a daily driver-- or restore it. Either way, you'll have fun cruising the streets and highways in this beauty. This Town Car came with the following ORIGINAL FACTORY EQUIPMENT: **Select-Shift Automatic Transmission **Power Steering **Power brakes **Power Windows (NOTE: driver-side rear not working) **Automatic Temperature Control (NOTE: A/C not working) **AM/FM radio with four speakers and power antenna **Cut-pile carpeting **Cartier digital clock (still working perfectly after 34 years) **Concealed dual headlamaps (vacuum motors have been replaced, but doors will still only stay down when the engine is running) **Cornering lamps **Power vent windows **Twin Comfort Lounge seats with passenger recliner and 6-way power driver and passenger seats **Carpeted luggage compartment with spare tire curtain **Full vinyl roof **Coach lamps This Town Car also was ordered with the following FACTORY OPTIONS: **7.5 Litre (460 CID) V-8 engine **Speed Control (NOTE: not working) **Interval select windshield wipers **Interior light group (includes dual beam map/dome lamp and illuminated visor vanity mirrors for driver and passenger) **Illuminated entry system (activates interior lights and door lock lights when either door handle button is pushed) **Remote control right-hand mirror **Headlamp convenience group (automatic headlamp dimmer and Autolamp on/off delay system) **Power glass moonroof (rarely seen in these cars) **Tilt steering wheel **Electric defroster on rear window **AM/FM stereo radio with Quadrasonic 8-track tape system (still working, but the rear speakers sound fuzzy) **Leather seats **Custom paint stripes **Turbine-styled cast aluminum wheels **Power lock convenience group, which includes power door locks (NOTE: "unlock" feature does not work) and remote deck-lid release Overall, the exterior is in good condition, though the paint is faded on the hood and trunk. No major dents and only a few very minor surface rust spots. The vinyl top needs some attention, especially near the rear window. There are no cracks or chips in the windshield. The dashboard and headliner are flawless. The seats show wear and the driver's seat has some small tears. The sunroof works perfectly and does not leak. All interior and exterior lights work properly. Brakes work great, and the tires are 50-60%. Transmission shifts nice and smooth. RECENTLY-REPLACED ITEMS: Alternator Headlight vacuum motors (left and right) Wiper Blades Battery Spark plugs and wires The Town Car comes with a like-new factory showroom brochure, original owners manual, and the original floor mats. All in all, this Town Car is a great-running classic. It's a good candidate for restoration , or just drive it daily and enjoy!
