Vehicle Detail
Early off the assembly Line 1955 Thunderbird, Date of manufacture January, 5, 1955. This California Black plate ‘’55’’ Thunderbird …292 V8, 3 speed with overdrive, manual steering and brakes, power seat, telescopic steering column ,soft top was put in storage in 1965 for 3 years and again in 1974 thru 2009 and has been garage kept since then. Upon removing this T-Bird from storage in 2009 it still retained the original FOMOCO fan belt Pt# ECD-8620-A-AI, Red FOMOCO Script generator, Red FOMOCO Script starter, AC fuel pump, AC fuel filter and element, thermostat Pt# EBU-8575-A with a manufacture date of 9-54 (is still works) Radiator hoses, spark plug wires (Ford script) Tea Pot 4 barrel carburetor, 6 Volt System and Original tonneau cover. Inside of glove box was Factory Owner’s Handbook, factory key tag, gas receipts from 1962 and 1965 (would be nice to by gas at that price again) These are the things that have been done since then: Replaced Master/wheel cylinders and rubber brake hoses (flushed lines), Brake shoes and hardware, had the FOMOCO brake drums turned (they were still the stock size, first time to be turned) New gas tank, Battery, fuel filter element, oil filter element, Seat Belts , Fan Belt, Radiator/heater hoses, Fuel pump and rubber supply hose, rebuilt the Carburetor, removed and cleaned original thermostat (not much to clean) and reinstalled. Removed oil pan and cleaned inside of pan and pickup screen on oil pump, reinstalled with new gasket. Drained and replaced oil on 3 speed transmission and differential. The engine starts and runs nicely, As well as the transmission (have not tried overdrive) The body retains approximately 60 to 70% original paint, there are the common door dings and chips and a few minor dents (see pictures) the left rear quarter panel and right fender skirt have been repainted . The seat and soft top are Original and in need of recovering, there is no carpet. Chrome is in decent shape,Interior windshield dog legs have the typical light rusts pots on the plating, glass is in nice condition no cracks or chips, the tachometer, gauges, clock, lights, horn, heater blower, power seat, turn signals, backup lights all work. Unfortunately the radio was sent out for repair and never returned. I have only driven this down my private road to test brakes, the speed odometer worked briefly (may need to be cleaned) steering seems tight. The tires currently on the car are not road worthy, Comes with the stock 15‘’ wheels and hub caps with nice center medallions (there are a few scratches on the caps) otherwise nice condition. The mechanical parts that were replaced as well as the fan belt comes with the car. this car was driven from 1955 through 1965 and from approximately from 1968 through 1974 some 17 years of road grime dirt, grease, oil, etc. 57years total, This is a solid car, it has some areas of normal light surface rust on the frame where the paint has flaked off, I have not found any body cancer or rusted out areas. The exhaust system has the FOMOCO branded muffler on the passenger side, muffler on the driver side looks to have been replaced, approximately 1/3rd of the tailpipes have been replaced, the driver’s side near the bumper has a can patch it is in typical condition for exhaust systems. The title is clear with no liens or loans against it; and is currently registered through August 2013. This is a solid car,If you have any questions…Please ask!!A $500.00 deposit(PayPal) is required within 24 Hrs of auction close and FULL Payment due within 7 days close of auction (see payment instructions) Selling “AS -IS Where -IS” Buyer is responsible for Pick up/ transportation and its associated cost.
