Vehicle Detail

This 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro has been well used and loved. It is a complete vehicle, and is an excellent candidate for a restoration, but also has many hard to find valuable parts for someone interested in a parts vehicle. This 1987 VW Syncro was purchased in 1999 at187XXX and driven daily for almost ten years. It developed a head leak on one side and has been parked ever since. The Syncro is being sold as is where is, but complete transparency will be attempted in its condition and what it may need to suit your needs. - The body has been taking the brunt of the elements. When purchased it had some rust repair, and some of these places are showing back up, though others are solid and not showing evidence of any rust. Seam rust along the driver's door/seat fender, along the driver's rocker panel, where the window glass rubber meets the body. I believe the color is Titan Red, but there were two very close colors that year. It is the darker of the two. There is bubbling and checking along the front nose between the lights and windshield. - Mechanically it never let me down. I never got stuck in a snowbank or a ditch, and I only did mild off-roading. As far as I could tell the VC was in good shape and engaged/disengaged when it needed to. The first thing I did in 1999 was replace the center shaft. I wanted a balanced prop shaft that I knew the history of. A South African grill kit and tow package was installed. It towed well, though was used infrequently. I always ran Castrol Synthetic in the motor and RedLine in the transmission. It has a set of S&S headers on it, but one side has a quarter sized hole in it. It looks like the O2 is disconnected from the exhaust, after being parked. - South African 15" rims (5) were added. All are mounted with Michelin Agillis. Some center caps are missing. It is located in Cokato, MN if you want to inspect it out for yourself. It does not have a battery. Depending on your location it could cost $500 to get it to your door, or the cost of gas and time with your truck and trailer.
