Vehicle Detail

Attention: Hardcore Pontiac Racers and Enthusiasts up for auction is my 1968 Pro-Street G.T.O.! Over the past few years, I have done a lot of selling on ebay. This is by far the toughest item, I have had to auction off. This was my first car. I bought this car back in 1977 when I was sixteen years old. It was bone stock at the time of purchase and over the years it was modified into the racer you now see. Like a lot of young guys, I just could not satisfy my need for speed. The first time I took the car to a track was 1978, it ran: 14:74 seconds at 98 mph. The last time at the track 2003, it ran 9:77 seconds at 138 mph, with a Dan Whitmore prepared 488 cid engine. I was in the process of updating the roll-cage and some other miscellaneous things when the economic down-turn hit. I was thinking/hoping to get going again on this at a later date. However, things are just not working for me and as a result, I need to sell the car. DETAILS ABOUT THE CAR.The car was restofied during a four year period between 1983-87. This included, removing the body from the frame. All bushings were replaced, frame was painted, brake lines replaced, etc. Interior was completely restored. Car exterior was completely stripped and repainted. The front bumper, hood, deck lid and rear bumper are all fiberglass. Note: hood is stock appearing, but is raised 2" inches taller. All of the windows are formed Plexi-Glass made by Pro-Glass. The front seats were being updated to Kirky aluminum drag-racing style. The back seat has been modified to fit the wheel tubes. The transmission tunnel is removable. The carpeting is custom made to fit the removable tunnel and roll-bar. The lower dash has been modified to accept Auto Meter gauges. Fuel cell is aluminum and holds 10 gallons. Dual battery location in trunk with master cut-off switch. Car has been garage kept since being restofied. CHASSIS & SUSPENSIONThe front chassis has been modified and now features custom made upper and lower a-arms. Steering is rack and pinion. Spindles are Mustang II style, with Wilwood disc brakes. Shocks are Koni coil over style. Frame center section has been replaced to accept larger oil pan and headers. Custom made motor mounts were fabricated to work with new frame center section. Frame also, has brackets for motor plate usage. Core support is a custom made unit that accepts stock style radiator. Rear suspension features a Competition Engineering ladder bar set-up with adjustable link. Shocks are Koni coil over. Brakes are Wilwood disc style. The rear end is a 1957-64 Pontiac/Olds with a Strange Engineering spool and Richmond 4:10 gears. The axles are 35-spline, also from Strange Engineering. The rear end has been narrowed to accept 31" tall x 13" wide tires. Wheels are Centerline and tires are Goodyear racing Eagles. INDUCTION & EXHAUSTCustom made round port headers were fabricated to work with modified chassis and larger oil pan. However, any aftermarket header will still work with this chassis. Custom made aluminum Ram Air set-up was fabricated to work taller hood. RACE WEIGHTCar weighs 3,085 lbs., without driver. SPECIAL NOTE: All work performed on this car over the years, was only done by industry professionals. If you are looking for a great car to go racing with then this auction is for you. Here’s your chance to get an excellent racer for a song. Check out my other auctions, I’m clearing out 25 years of hoarding all types of parts. E-mail with questions.
