1999 Honda Civic CX Hatchback Up for sale is this 5 speed manual transmission 1999 Honda Civic CX Hatchback. This pre-owned vehicle has 105,339 miles. The exterior paint color is bright red. The interior is gray. The colors "in person" may vary with those displayed on your computer screen. The exterior of the vehicle has black plastic trim and details. This vehicle is rated by the EPA at 27 mpg city/34 mpg highway (I have found it is normally more fuel efficient than this, but the fuel efficiency will depend on your driving conditions). I have owned this car since 2001, having purchased it with low mileage at a large dealership in northern California. It has been a very reliable vehicle for me. It does not have an air conditioner. There is a spare (donut) tire under the rear cargo area. This is a desirable car for customization and mods. I have taken representative photos of the vehicle; however, not every flaw mentioned in the description has a corresponding photo, and not every minor flaw has been mentioned. Please note: The AutoCheck vehicle history report shows that this VIN corresponds with a minor accident or vehicle damage (non-collision) event on 4/24/02. I owned the car during this period, and I do not know what this represents; it may have been a minor issue such as a cracked windshield, or the report could be in error. BODY, PAINT, AND TRIM The body and paint on this Civic are in very nice condition for a vehicle of this age. In June of 2005, a tree limb fell on the hood while the car was parked. The hood was replaced by a quality body shop; you can not tell that the hood was replaced. No mechanical parts beneath the hood were damaged. The car has not been in a driving collision. There are scattered, insignificant tree sap spots, water marks, fine scratches and waxing/buffer swirl marks; in my opinion, these do not detract. Additionally, the rear bumper has some paint deterioration/breakdown (typical of painted plastic bumpers) and scattered, tiny to small chips to the paint. The driver's side door has a circular paint flaw/disturbance adjacent to the window trim which measures approximately 1 inch across (see photo). The driver's side lower rear panel has a 1 inch shallow depression which is visible under certain lighting conditions. The black, rubberized finish on the metal window trim on both doors is deteriorating (see example in photo). The black paint on the windshield wiper arms is wearing off (see example in above photo). The tip of the hood has a tiny ding which is difficult to see. On the shoulder of the passenger rear panel are two shallow circular depressions (approximately 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch in diameter, respectively). Lower down and toward the rear of the passenger side rear panel, there are a couple of fine, nearly horizontal scratches to the paint (about 6 inches and 11 inches long, respectively). There are a few scattered chips to the paint along the edges of the doors, hood, and hatchback; these vary in size from pinhead-sized to 1/4 inch across. The black trim parts have typical oxidation and fading. The driver's side key hole is a little dented; however, the lock functions fine. There is minor wax residue in the molding and panel crevices. There may be a few very minor flaws which I have missed. All said, the exterior of the vehicle looks very presentable for a vehicle of this age. The small depressions/dings mentioned above are very subtle and shallow, and might be removable by spooning by a body shop with some experience in this technique. Most of the scratches should improve with a thorough detailing and polishing. CHASSIS, UNDERCARRIAGE, ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND WHEELS I am not aware of any mechanical issues with the car's motor, transmission, or undercarriage. The engine sounds fine and runs smoothly. The manual transmission is responsive and the clutch feels good. The brakes function well with occasional, very minor pulsation. The wheel rims have residue from brake dust and grime. The tires are cracked and the tread is low; I recommend that the buyer replace the tires before the car is driven. INTERIOR FEATURES AND UPHOLSTERY Overall the interior (including the cloth bucket seats) is in very nice condition. This was used by a non-smoking driver, and no one has ever smoked in it. The vehicle has a removable face Kenwood KDC-516S CD receiver which has recently stopped functioning. This might be a quick fix with a replacement ribbon flex cable or it might just have a loose connection behind the unit (I'm not sure what is wrong with it). There are a few small, scattered stains and tiny holes to the headliner. There are minor scratches to the interior plastic parts, which in my opinion do not detract. The driver's side sun visor clip is broken. The windshield wiper switch functions erratically; I was able to baby it and use it, but I would recommend that it be replaced before the vehicle is driven. There is window tint on the three rear windows. This tint is bubbling up and has small tears/gouges. The cigarette lighter jack does not work; it didn't work when I bought the car, and I never needed to use it, so I didn't investigate it. The door jambs could use a quick cleaning. Then they will drive this truck down the open road as fast as they are legally allowed. The car may arrive looking as though someone repeatedly shot it at close range with a shot gun loaded with bird doo and ball bearings. I will not assume any responsibility for damage to the vehicle by any shipper. Please contact me within three days of the end of the listing so we can make necessary arrangements. I need to receive payment within seven days of the close of this listing. I will only accept cash in person or a cashier's check as payment; you may be required to wait for a reasonable and prudent clearing/verification period for a cashier's check payment. The vehicle will not be released until the buyer provides accurate info for the California Department of Motor Vehicles release of liability and transfer of title. Prior to release of the vehicle, you will also be required to sign my bill of sale and provide me with a copy of your valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
