Vehicle Detail

For auction is my faithful 1994 S4 turbo Quattro... also called the "urS4" as in 'original'. I've owned 3 of these ur-S4's..I bought this car from a Detroit Michigan area owner with approx. 125,000 on the odometer. I replaced the shocks at the time with Sachs OEM models, so ride is firm but not stiff, it is slightly softer than my '92 S4 was.All the front-end rubber bushings were replaced at the time (sway bar, thrust etc.) As you can see in the photos, the left front suffered a low-speed (under 20 mph) collision with a deer (fatality, sorry!). The good news is that the headlight glass is NOT broken and the internal fog light still works. The main bulb itself was on when it happened and it failed. The headlight housing and electrical connector is intact and just pushed back against the windshield washer reservoir. The hood was untouched. The side marker light will need replaced. The fender can be pounded out to look passable for use as a winter car or replaced as you see fit. This was a daily driver- I replaced many of the 'usual suspects' these cars need. With reasonable maintenance these cars easily see 300,000 miles and well beyond. My 1993 S4 saw 565,000 miles before it was taken off the road! The car is in overall very good mechanical condition. Car has always had full-synthetic oil and OEM German filters. Timing belt/serpentine belt/water pump was changed at 190,000 (these have 90k intervals so is good until 280k) Premium Continental belt used. At 170,000 the MAF sensor, oxy sensor and plugs (Bosch OEM platinum) and under-coil boots were replaced. Drive shaft center bearing was replaced at 190,000 along with gas tank (clean used from same year A6). Emergency brake cables replaced at the same time since rear differential had to drop to get at tank. The original stainless-steel twin-cat exhaust was also dropped at the time for tank access and it has NO leaks or perforations (!). Rear differential seals were also replaced at this time and fluid changed also. At 205,000 miles I replaced all brake calipers with used units from Shokan (Audi dismantler near NYC) and replaced all 4 rotors and pads with kit from Blaufernugen. All brake hoses were also changed. ($$$) See a pattern emerging? LOL- I do it right on these cars. At around 208,000 I replaced the clutch slave cylinder. The shop checked the clutch at the time and said it still had good service life left. Also replaced were the steering arms and tie-rod ends with factory OEM parts and alignment was done.($$) Power steering fluid changed. At 190,000 the turbo system after-run coolant recirculation pump was replaced, and the water-temp/multi sensor also. Coolant flushed & replaced. Fan clutch replaced. Full Valve cover gasket kit (OEM) installed at this time too. Windshield was replaced from rock chip with factory unit with radio antenna built in. The wire however was nowhere to be found. You can see in the pics that previous owner added a power antenna (not working) and that the thru-hole has corrosion all around it. The car comes with a new custom-color paint kit that matches the factory Europa blue for touching up the hood and whatever antenna repair is performed. Headlight pressure-washers still work, electric seat heaters still work, CD changer still works(!) and comes with at least 4 10-disc cassettes. Central locking still works including trunk, but trunk key lock itself doesn't. If replaced it also controls whole locking system. Oil temp sensor just failed (around $40) and one dash illumination light is out (clock area; clock works). All power windows work and rear defroster works. AC system compressor works, but front condenser has pin-hole leak and will need replaced if you want A/C. The computer in the car is from my 1992 S4 and has the T.A.P. chip-set in it. It takes the stock power from 227 hp/265 ft-lbs to around 250 hp/285 ft-lbs, so a modest boost. The waste-gate has an adjustable spring and replaced diaphragm, the adjustment is NOT maxed. I'm an adult driver- this car has never been auto-crossed, drag-raced etc. The pull under boost is smooth and powerful, it feels like a V-8 but gives 26-28 mpg on highway, around 18-20 in town. There is NO detonation or other hiccups. Power output transistor units (ignition system) were replaced early on, ignition coils work perfectly. Transmissions in these cars are excellent, it shifts perfectly. No leaks under the car, all C/V boots intact. Comes with 4 nearly new winter tires (Firestone Winterforce 215/55-16 on Mille Miglia aluminum wheels, balanced & ready to roll) Factory OEM wheels were professionally repainted in flat Audi silver a few years ago. Tires will need replacing but are adequate to drive the vehicle to next home though I recommend trailering this car if you're more than a day's drive away due to the headlight. Car is started every weekend and moved to keep the brakes free etc. I'd fix this and keep but wife wants car with automatic so she can drive it! Clear title is in hand. Obviously I've done an awful of work on this car, but it is offered "As-is, where is". That said, with headlight issue fixed I'd drive it across the country with great confidence! Please ask any & all questions prior to bidding. I reserve the right to cancel bids from people with excess negative feedback. Thanks for looking and good luck! On Oct-12-12 at 08:28:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Somebody asked for pics of any rusty areas; the hood spots are clear enough, but I can't add any more pics to the current auction. Please email me for set of pics showing the minor corrosion spots. I am traveling Friday 10/12 during the day but can send out emails by 7pm or so. I was also asked about holding the car for a month until arrangements can be made to pick it up; I will work with the winner to reasonably accommodate transport, but a month is too long- we would have 4 cars in a driveway that barely holds 3! Within 7-10 days of cleared payment is 'reasonable' I think, but again I will strive to work with you. Thanks!
