Vehicle Detail

1941 Dodge COE (cab-over-engine) Car Hauler: Purchased on EBay about 2 years ago and almost finished. All fabrication is done and this rust-free classic hauler is ready for paint. Interior was primered about 3 months ago. This COE was built on a mid 70's Dodge RV chassis and has the usual Dodge V8 set-up (413 Dodge Commercial) with a/t (Torque-Flight, shifter mounted on dash). I have moved to Idaho and the COE is located in Warner Springs, CA (zip code 92086 for hauling quotes). I will have to fly back to CA to arrange pick-up of the truck (which runs). COE car haulers are making a come-back (look at recent auctions on EBay, and the great COE on "Counting Cars", which is a GM version from the same time period). Included with sell: New interior kit, including kick & door panels, headliner with new dome light, new interior windlace (these items will need to be installed by buyer). New door handles and window cranks (see in pictures). New glove box insert. New interior upholstery (the rear seat section is rebuilt and recovered, the bottom section will need to be done by buyer). New front windshield glass (both window frame and window crank have been restored). New gauges and bezel (buyer will have to wire, although I will install bezel and gauges in dash before it is picked up). Gauge kit is brand new includes all sensors (oil pressure and temp) that should be installed with the gauges. Rear brake lights are new and the rear portion of truck has been rewired. New back-up lights installed (one at the rear and the second on the winch mount - controlled seperatly from toggle swiches in cab). Ramsey winch (8,000 or 9,000 lb. rated - not sure) has new hand control. New "PAINLESS" circuit and fuse center (will need to be installed by buyer. Current fuse center is from RV chassis and has no issues). Both front tires and one rear tire are new (three rear tires are old and should be replaced). Spare tire and "stinger" are included (the stinger is a device that allows you to tow another car from the back of the truck - sort of outdated. I was using a double axle car trailer for moving additional cars - you'll see the stinger at the back of the bed from the photos on the MySpace site - it is painted red.). New chrome front light rings (they are installed). New chrome cowl light rings and reflectors (not installed yet - will come in a box). New period correct side-view mirrors (peep mirrors in pictures have been removed for these new mirrors) New ignition switch. The steering column came from the donor RV and should be replaced (it has both the shifter and the locking ignition switch on it and does not fit into the look of the interior). I was going to put a "shorty" polished aluminum column on it to match the gauge bezel - about $300. You can preview more pics of the COE at: www.MySpace.com/AvantiBob , when you get to the front page, click on"pics" below the picture of my shop. Go to page 2 of the albums and click on the album for the COE. Pictures of the COE may be a little confusing, so I'll give you the breakdown. The photos of the doors and interior removed are before the interior was primed. The doors have been reattached. The gauge bezel and gauges will be installed; (buyer will have to wire). The front windshield and crank will be reinstalled along with the wiper motor. New glove box insert and cover will also be installed prior to pickup. The rear seat section will be installed and the bottom section will have to recovered by the buyer (the seat cover and padding kit are included in sell). The COE is approx. 22' long, 7 1/2' wide and 7'4" tall (easily fit into my 8' garage door for the interior primer). Ramps are included with the truck and are kept in a storage area towards the back of the bed (see photos on the MySpace site - they should be reinforced at the top of each ramp, about a 10 minute welding job). There is power steering and conventional brakes (no disks in front, but this COE stops on a dime). The heater works and is period correct for the cab. This is not a barn find that has been sitting for 40 years in someone's field. It is ready for paint (after exterior prep). The interior was primed and ready for paint, although bad weather prevented me from finishing the interior before my return to Idaho in July. The exterior is flat-black and shows oxidation (no rust or body cancer). I will surely regret selling this truck, although it will probably sit for a year or more before I can finish it. This will easily look like a hauler that has over $40K into it at a fraction of the cost (and you can pick whatever color scheme you want to make a statement about this COE - Art Deco, Two Tone, Satin/Rat Rod, etc...). The COE is titled in California as a 1941 Dodge Flatbed Truck (no designation in CA for a COE). Feel free to call me if you have any additional questions: (951) 640-9820. Happy Bidding!!! On Oct-06-12 at 08:51:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had some inquiries about paint schemes for the COE.
